Requires Amazon Prime, for which, I believe, there are free trial options.

This is a PCIe Gen 4, high endurance (1800 TBW), TLC, DRAM, etc - 5000/4300 MB/s Read/Write. The very first comment in the Amazon reviews is that it works with PS5. It's not the very fastest Gen 4 drive you'll find, but it's fast.

Other than the Newegg Spatium M470 deal (now long gone), this seems like the cheapest 5000 MB/s read SSD this Black Friday/Cyber Monday season.

Says it runs at 5,000 mb/s when the PS5 site has minimum speed requirements of 5,500. However, I have seen people stating they have had slower drives working fine, and two of the reviews stated this ran above 5,500 mb/s (barely) when testing. Not sure if getting a drive that technically works in the PS5 but at a slower recommended speed will be an issue down the line, but this is a solid deal either way. Thanks for the post OP.

Better getting off the ADATA drive that's on sale for $129 at Best Buy or Amazon.

How would this perform in a 3 x 4 slot on a PC? Would it have the max possible speeds beating out native 3 x 4 NVME's, or would something like the Samsung 980 be faster?

It will be limited by the intrinsic speed limit on Gen3 x4, which, if I recall correctly, is around/just above 3,000 MB/s.

No, it will work perfectly in a laptop, however ensure your laptop supports Gen 4 drives or you are leaving performance on the table.

I had bought the wd 750 se 1tb from newegg recently for $97. It tested in the ps5 at 5037 MB/s and I've been using it no issue. I moved death stranding ps5 version (director's or definitive edition, can't recall exact name) which is 69Gb from the internal drive to this new drive in a minute flat. Seems good to me! Time will tell about later, more demanding games. I was willing to gamble on it for the price and was optimistic about it for sure being recognized by the ps5 and working as digital foundry had tested the 256Gb version previously with success. Now that being said I'd feel ok about this drive posted as working fine if the speeds posted are correct.

The WD you got is a Gen 4, but only as fast as a Gen 3. This one would be faster.

Good price for PS5. I ended up splurging on a 2TB Samsung 980 Pro for $230 after CB / other discounts. If I wanted a 1 TB drive, I would have jumped on this. The slower speed could be an issue down the road but will most likely be fine.

Yeah I've seen that too.
One thing I've seen is no one knows why Sony made those requirements
So with that said anyone buying these is taking a risk future wise, as they may get more strict. At the same time maybe it will become more lax
No one knows, only time will tell🤷
