Not withstanding the noise, the problem with a kit is you end up wanting to replace everything else.
I talked my friend out of a kit. I told him he should focus on getting a really good interface and then look for quality headphones next. That way, he would be happy with the stuff and not wish he had bought something else.

The correct bundle needs to be selected. The $550 one also includes:

2x JBL 306P MkII Powered 6.5" Two-Way Studio Monitor
AKG Acoustics K612 Pro Reference Studio Headphones
Zoom ZDM-1 Super Cardioid Dynamic Mic

This being said I really don't recommend the AudioBox96 due to its internal noise.

I have the M7 and it is very cheaply made (plastic). I bought it for $25 and I'd say it's worth about the same. My initial impression is that it doesn't sound too bad for a cheap mic, but I haven't used it much yet. I would say it's similar quality to a cheap CAD mic. Sorry, I don't have the AT2020 to give an honest comparison.

Yes, it is a "soundcard". You would connect it with the supplied USB cable to your computer. You need to be aware that the main connections for the speakers (main outs) are 1/4" jacks, so you may need an adaptor depending on your speaker style/setup. The headphone jack is 1/4" as well. It also has 2 mic/instrument inputs and a midi in/out as well.

Just a word of advice, if anyone here is really in the market for a quality interface at a decent price Scarlett 2i2 or Audient iD4 are really good options.
