They now include 1 year of maintenance in their pricing so the base price went up. If you continue subscribing to maintenance then it's a cost effective way of staying current. The next version is included in this price too.

This is absolutely untrue. Last year's deal had 1 year maintenance too.. got snagit for $10 (education upgrade) + getting a license for snagit 2022


EDIT: Now I know why mine included maintenance:
*Upgrade purchases began including the first year of maintenance on September 1, 2020.

If I let the maintenance lapse can I buy it at a another time to get an upgrade? Or do I need to keep the maintenance current to be eligible?

I asked the same question tonight. You have to call techsmith sales to get maintenance extended while you're in maintenance phase. It's $15-20 I believe and CYBER2021 code does not apply.

what i'm planning to do is wait till my 2022 license is finished, wait for v2023 to come out and buy an upgrade/education license to 2023 ($15 while on sale) and get 2024 as well for the +1 year maintenance

What if it's expired? Would they still extend it? or pay full price?

Pay full price. They won't extend.

Honestly, you get screwed for being honest with these guys. Go for education + upgrade during a sale and that's the lowest price you can get with these asshats.
