looks interesting but not being able to add a GPU down the road kills it for me. I'd rather spend a little more and be able to add a video card in a year or two or three and still keep it relevant.

This computer has empty PCIE 3.0 16x slot. You will be able to add a mid range gpu down the road...

Not sure where you got the assumption that you can't add a GPU. Doesn't matter that the 5700g has built in graphics.

I know this is how much a Ryzen 7 machine usually goes for, but as a whole package it isn't really a great deal. That Vega 8 iGPU is really dated at this point. Its power is roughly a GT 1030 (lowest tier dGPU) from 2017. At this price, you might as well go for a lesser machine (maybe a $400 Ryzen 5) with the extra cash going into a real GPU later when the prices are not as crazy.

AMD is also going to refresh its iGPU to Navi2 next year, which will contain upgrades to the processing pipeline and video decoding engine. This upgrade will be pretty important for HTPC users.

A computer with 5600g isn't going to be that much cheaper and the 5300g is going to blow chunks compared to this. Anything intel offers with onboard graphics is going to be even worse. Normally I would agree with you but the GPU market is not going to cool of until 2023 at the earliest and when AMD releases an RDNA2 APU you can bet its going to be pretty expensive.

Power supply is actually 180w. So enough to run a low end GPU but yes would be better off upgrading that as well for any GPU upgrade. (along with a 24pin to 4+4 pin power adapter).

I assembled 5 desktops last week for work with very similar specs. Only difference is mine had 32GB memory and 500w gold psu. The price to build was about the same before adding windows OS. So if you want to pick a cool case and have non-proprietary psu and mobo that may be a better option. If your time is worth more than that, this is not a bad price for the specs. The CPU comes with a cooler, as well as graphics so it makes for a nice budget build with good capability.

Any idea how much additional cost it would be to build one that can do 4k@60hz? I guess it would just take a motherboard with hdmi 2.0 or displayport. I don't need a gpu.
