Royalty fee is a false advertisement scam. No other online music providers charge it. I run as fast as I can once I hear it.
They want new customers to show growth. Obviously you keep renewing so there's no need to send you a discount offer.
Looking a little further, it appears this offer will only be extended to radios in cars that have not had a subscription for 5 years. So that means that unless your car is a 2015 model or older (considering that most cars with a sirius/xm radio also have a free subscription for a good chunk of time which would have to run out), your car radio is pretty much automatically disqualified from this promotion.

The thing is, my life won't end if I don't have SiriusXM in the car.

So I am always 100% willing to walk away if I don't get the ~$60/year deal. And even though sometimes they will say it's not available, at the last second they miraculously find it. I've never (yet) had to actually cancel and let it expire. But I would if necessary.

But it is a major hassle to have to call every year.

What do we use for the Account number? If the unit is inactive, we don't have an account number.
Your "account number" would be shown when you log into your account. I have an account, but no active radios. However, all three radios (old boom boxes and my vehicle) that I've had service with are listed, and radios can be deleted or added. The inactive units show up on you Sirius/XM account. Even if you don't have any active radios, you should still have your account. Simply log in.

Hey Guys, tried again with Radio ID that has over 5 years of non use, out of a 2012 Cadillac still nothing is there a trick to getting the 3year or 5 year offer? Or is this a YMMV deal?

Did not work for me either but my subscription just expired, after all the blah blah from the CS rep. Not even the $60 a year was offered to me, the best price was $84 per year which is too much for the time I spend in the vehicle. They should in my opinion offer the 3-5 plans to everyone renewing? That way they do lose anyone.
Just called today and got $5.99 monthly for 12 months

If you ask enough times, they'll offer you 12 months for $60 instead of the $5.99/mo deal.

Really hate how deals are only ever for people who are not customers. Despite my insistence, my wife has continued to be a customer for about 10 years, now. The only deal we ever see is 1 year for about $99, which comes out to be about $120 after fees and taxes.
Just threaten to cancel and reject their initial offer. They brought my monthly cost to $5 and gave me 2 months free.

You can always just negotiate for a better plan. I got the Platinum aka All Access for $60/yr this past August.

Is it cheaper to sign a new customer, or to keep an existing customer?
Keep an existing…
Shut, it. Can I… can I just do it please?
Uh, it's equal.
It is ten times more expensive to sign a new customer.
Okay. Yes! It was a trick question.

I had this offer on an old truck that I rarely drive anymore. I currently have a 2019 whose subscription ran out. I activated the three-year deal on the truck, then paid a one-time $15 transfer fee to transfer that service to my 2019.

SiriusXM was pretty revolutionary 10 years ago.....

Playing the music you want when you want is more 2021. I tried SiriusXM for a year and I couldn't stand the DJs talking nonstop. Play music. If I wanted to listen to people talk I'll listen to a podcast. It's getting outdated in what it can do.

If you full time in an RV it would be a good deal for the RV.
$150 for 5 years is worth it. $30/ yr. Less than $3/month and you have it in your full time home.

On an annual basis for last 7 years (had a 2012 camry ) threat to not renew and they give me $60 for year ever year but one . That one time I did cancel and within a week I had an email begging me to come back for $60.. Which I did.
