I do miss Howard. Are their bitrates still trash? I remember listening to the music channels and feeling like a thousand fairies were whispering in my ear through an aluminum tube

Fortunately, they've made it a bit easier with their automated system to renew by "cancelling". Might not always be the BEST rate, but it comes pretty close and good enough for me.

Really hate how deals are only ever for people who are not customers. Despite my insistence, my wife has continued to be a customer for about 10 years, now. The only deal we ever see is 1 year for about $99, which comes out to be about $120 after fees and taxes.
Every year I call and get "Mostly Music" (or whatever they call it) for $5 a month.

I have the free 3 months and I enjoy some of the music and comedy stations.. -BUT- know that the streaming quality is the absolute worst -by far, as compared to youtube, Spotify, etc.. If you like high quality music then steer clear of Sirius XM. I don't mind it in the car but at home I do mind. If you don't believe me turn it up... -bring the noise. -And no, you don't have to be an audiophile to notice.

Does their music still sound like streaming from dial-up?

The thing is, my life won't end if I don't have SiriusXM in the car.

So I am always 100% willing to walk away if I don't get the ~$60/year deal. And even though sometimes they will say it's not available, at the last second they miraculously find it. I've never (yet) had to actually cancel and let it expire. But I would if necessary.

But it is a major hassle to have to call every year.
I seem to remember being able to renew my 1yr/$60 last year using the web portal and not having to call. It was awesome not having to do the deal dance with them like every previous year or 6 months.
I think there was an option to just "renew existing plan" or something like that.

Hmm. Did not work for friend's new vehicle. Never been activated. But he does get 12 months free with his vehicle purchase whenever he activates it.

Yes, in the early days of the Covid lockdown you could do that. I posted a thread about it that got fairly long.

But they seem to have rescinded that option and we're back to the bad old days.

Idk about the rest of you but my radio cuts out when next to buildings that are 5-6 stories tall.
Also the sound quality of the music has not improved since the beginning. It sounds worst than tape cassette quality.
I have free apps on my phone that sound better at low bit rates. Only drawback is some data use.
Also they used to have several electronic music stations. Now they have 2 and they suck more than half the time.
They need to bring HD sound and they need to do it now. They know it's a sinking ship that's why these deals come out. $5 a month is nearly always available.

Last year, I took them up on their mail offer for one year of radio and streaming for $60. I went to cancel my subscription online a few days ago and was offered the same one year for $60 or $30 for 6 months.

Have never wanted this service, but at this price with 2 cars I was going to jump on it. Then I realized it was worse than I thought. Instead of every other music service you subscribe to, this one is for just one car and would need a second sign up for the next car. Or I can just stick with what I have and play it any time, in any car, or any other connection. Really disappointing, but no shocked.

Essentially, the service is tied to a radio and not to a user - like Spotify is. If you have a portable radio that moves between cars, it will work. If both cars have fixed radios, you will need one sub per radio.

If you have modern cars with Android Auto/Apple Carplay, or at least with Bluetooth, then you can just listen to SiriusXM on your phone and pipe it to your car. No need for multiple subscriptions if you own multiple cars.
