Direct Tools Factory Outlet (DTFO) claims that is 40% off.
Don't know how long it is at this price.

It is FACTORY BLEMISHED so it's eligible for Ridgid's Lifetime Service Agreement (LSA).

Kit includes 2 AH battery and charger.

Three year warranty is converted to LSA with registration within 90 days of purchase. Both new and factory blemished tools have the same three year warranty.

Would a finish nailer be better to install baseboards?

A finish nailer is what I've always used for baseboards over drywall. I think an 18ga brad would be too thin and wiggly even if the length is theoretically ok. Maybe if you shot extra nails.

A brad nailer works well for quarter round / shoe moulding and other wood to wood trim on doors or windows.

If you're doing any extensive trimming you'll want both.

Is this significantly better than the $65 I paid for the ryobi version? Not trying to brag about a deal or involve a time machine... Just want to know if cost/benefit makes sense to get this

Where'd you get the Ryobi for $65?

In my experience, Factory Blemished (FB) items are just like new.

When I got my 1st FB item, I expected that it would be scratched or have some type of ding.

I thought that it may have fell off a conveyor belt at the factory and got "bruised", but for the cheaper price I would put up with it*.

Luckily for me, my items came out of the box factory fresh with nothing noticeable wrong with it.

So why is it FB?

I expect the following to be true: https://youtu.be/JpQb2YoeIk0?t=129 [youtu.be]

If not, 100% true. It is close enough for me.

* It is a tool after all, and will get scuffed up sometime.

Ok, just making sure its not chuck bent up or something

I am going all rigid tools now.

I bought a dewalt tool in February and it stopped working in August. I sent it to the factory repair and after several weeks of me calling they finally told me they couldn't fix it and we're going to replace it.

It is now December and I have not received the tool yet after calling many times. They finally told me yesterday I could file for a refund and they'd send me a check.

Mean while I've been without a tool I use just about every day for 4 months.

The dewalt is not the tool company that used to be and they don't even have a lifetime warranty.

Hopefully the same doesn't happen with my Ridgid Trim Router. It failed after 4 uses and has been with the service center since September. They're apparently waiting for parts that are delayed because of a shortage. 11 weeks and counting...

How is it?
Really liking it (Ryobi P318 model), just tested with the 1 inch nails it comes with and it's flawless. No depth adjustment which seems odd, but it put them all *just* below the surface. I even ran a handful of 3/8 inch nails I had around through it, curious if it'd handle them as it says 1/2 inch on up but I didn't have any issues with the slightly smaller nails.

My first cordless nailer, and it's so quiet and convenient. In my head, if I'm doing 18ga (or larger) work, it tends to be bigger projects like baseboards / door casing / etc... and I can justify getting out the compressor and being noisy. This pin nailer is for that quick repair late at night, or just need to hold for glue to set situation where I don't want to turn on the compressor for 4 nails and wake the house.

Least, this rational helps me feel better passing on this Ridgid 18ga cordless.... but I'm weak and could fold any minute.

In general yes. 15 or 16ga is what most folks will recommend for decently sized baseboard - normally you're doing a bit of pulling/bending/wrangling to get it following floors or wavy walls and the extra size helps in holding power. Smaller baseboard + flat walls/floors and I'm sure you could get away with 18ga if you need to.

If you don't have either size to begin with, I feel the 18ga is more useful overall. It can handle the more delicate stuff better and can usually punch above it's weight when needed just by adding an extra nail or 2.

'committed' to Dewalt 20v couple of years ago to try to avoid 5+ different charging systems around the house. Having gone thru the Ridgid LSA registration for a blem (not cut and dry on verification but worked) and warranty claim on both, can't say either was ideal but wish I had committed to Ridgid instead.

In for 1 - thx OP

Just ordered Ryobi 16 gauge, should I also grab this or the 16 gauge can do most of the 18 does? This will be my first nailer so not sure if the use cases are different.nTIA.

Thanks OP. I was looking at the tool only for $119 blemished a few days ago. With the battery and charger included….I bit.

This is really pulling on me hard. I am pretty sure this is the cheapest it's been in quite a while.
I have a 16 and an 18 regular but not having to drag around hose and compressor sure sounds nice.

Pretty frustrating experience with this. Tried to order last night and got an error at checkout on 2 attempts. Called this morning and they said they see where the order was attempted but now they're out of stock and there's nothing they can do.

yeah, i came across the same @ DTO and am seriously considering it. My Ryobi 23ga 18V pin nailer just showed up today... he may need a friend Smilie
After I used one of my coworkers Ryobi brad nailers I picked up all their offerings. Bought the pin nailer from DTO last year as a "factory Blemished" for $58. Use the hell out of, and while bigger then my Makita pin nailer it sees more time working on the job. And not having to pull out the compressor and house and listening to run all day is "priceless".

Brad and pin is all I use on the job for the most part. And with the pin, no holes to fill.
