Amazon has the 14TB Seagate IronWolf Pro NAS Internal Hard Drive HDD for $329. That works out to be $23.50 per TB. Not bad, though I have seen better. I needed some drives now so I pulled the trigger. If you can wait for a better deal you might want to. Newegg has the Ironwolf 12TB for $265 but its not the Pro model...

If you're willing to shuck, it's $250 from Best Buy for an WD Easystore. Keep in mind this was $200 pretty recently if you're willing to wait.

That Newegg drive is OEM Which means no warranty at all.

What else can you buy to store 14TB of data at a cheaper price? It doesn't help that there aren't that many spinning drive manufacturers out there. I think we are down to Seagate, Western Digital, Toshiba, and Samsung (which to my knowledge doesn't sale straight to consumers, I have only seen OEM Samsung drives). Also most of the demand comes from data farms or enterprise customers. Knowing that, the manufacturers try to keep the supply not too high. The average consumer is looking for cloud storage services instead of buying 14, 12, 10TB hard drives and for their devices they seem to be more that comfortable with 1TB. If there was a higher demand from the consumer side, manufacturers would maybe increase their production and maybe we would see a better price, but as the current market is I don't see that happening any time soon.

I was hoping that with new phone recording 4k and 8k videos, the demand for storage would go up but people are relying mostly on the cloud and seem to be ok with their 4k videos being compressed to 480 to store it on the cloud.

If it says OEM (in the title) that means it's gray market and won't have a warranty.

Same price at Newegg, but it says it ships from China. Probably better to go with Amazon

It's been $199 from a half dozen sites over the past 3 weeks. And if you got it at a local Best Buy, you can get 15% off by recycling ANY drive. I brought in a 512MB flash drive. Paid $169 for the WD drive.
