Not sure what you mean because there is no 14" "advanced" version as far as I'm aware of. As an owner of most of the high profile laptops of this year, there's no 14" laptop that can compete. I have a G14 as well and the build quality isn't even in the same stratosphere, never mind the fact that the G14 tops out at a Max q 3060 (and one of the worse ones on the market) where as the listed laptop in this SD thread is a standard Max q 3070.
In any event, this is a very niche product. Best performance/Size bar none on the market. If you got the coin, than go for it.
My ONLY gripe is it only has 16gb soldered ram. But it games great and I can haul it around in my back pack fine. Supee light and feels very sturdy. I've had it about 6 months.
I've had this since October and I love it. Best laptop I've ever owned. The ram didn't bother me since I'm not a power user. My only gripe is the lack of thunderbolt but that is AMD issue.
Have had mine for 3 months. Amazing machine. Wish the ram was soldered but not a deal breaker for me. Easily the best laptop I've ever had. Fans do get loud during gaming but for the overall footprint, it's acceptable.
I'm not planning on gaming, but I like the construction and looks of this laptop too much. I'm thinking on getting the 2020 oled 15 ebay deal over this, but AMD is making me want this instead.
Not thunderbolt. That's a dealbreaker. I've run into multiple issues because everything else these days is a thunderbolt connection, so you end up having to buy adapters and proper wires for this previous generation usbc 3.1 type 2. It's a real pain in the a**, trust me.

For this price I would definitely get it. I purchased it earlier this year for also $1979 and was able to get the 4 year protection plan for just $279. I feel perfectly safe that I can take my $2K laptop anywhere in the world while traveling (which is frequent) and not be worried that its safety. (For the record I did drop it while traveling with my backpack over 3 feet, no damage at all). But had it been broken, I know that the protection plan would have covered me in its entirety. And if you think that even if you have 1% chance of breaking it every year, than the protection plan would be a no brainer.
This has been by far my favorite laptop. I've tried everything from the Lenovo Yoga 9i, Spectre 14, Windows Surface, Macbook Pro 13, the Dell XPS 13 but nothing else has this combination of power and portability.
Yes it will charge and perform over USB-C.
No it does not have Thunderbolt, but in reality unless you are a content creator (audio, visual, etc.) you won't need Thunderbolt because your are not transferring massive amount of 4K/8K data. USB 3 will work for you just fine, you might just have to wait like a few more seconds or minutes.
Not only that, the combination of USB A ports and HDMI port is very handy especially when you need that backup compatibility when traveling and/or presenting.
I think for me the biggest selling point are the Windows IR facial recognition, battery life and performance, port selections, screen resolution, and weight.
But most importantly keyboard backlighting! For some reason with the exception of higher end Dells, Microsoft Surface, and Apple products are the keyboard backlighting properly adjustable (8-10+ level of adjustment) but there are no backlight bleed from the keys. The backlight bleed from ill fitting keyboard drives me insane especially as I work all sorts of hours. As well not having proper adjustment (blind you in the eyes bright, bright and then can't see enough dim).
Also for anyone who thinks 16GB of RAM is not enough, it is so not true. 16GB is plenty for even the most demanding of triple AAA game titles. Are you going to be exporting on Photoshop will also playing Fortnite at the same time? Let's be real, you probably suck at Fornite anyways.
