Btw, Simple mobile phones do work on Tracfone, Total Wireless, Net10, etc because they are owned by the same company.

Just don't turn it on until the Tracfone sim is inserted into this phone.
Currently Travfone has a 1yr plan for $40, Link for reference below:

You can always get a Rsim for about $10-15 at eBay
Hi KABUKI-POSH,
Thanks very much for posting an excellent deal !
What provider did you sign up for the Tracfone with the ebay SIM?
Any recommedation on which phone service works well for Tracfone sim ?
Your post is very good as it gives the best option for low cost plan which is what I need - all other deals need costly plans or trade-in.

As for which one is best? Idk I use the phone mostly for internet purposes, not so much for phone usage quality 🤔

According to Google SM and Red Pocket are both under the T-Mobile network, all you have to is put the red pocket sim into the new iPhone before turning it on for the 1st time.
Call red pocket to make sure your specific sim IS under Tmobile' network, since I red they vary from T-Mobile to ATT and Verizon. You have the whole day today to buy this iPhone anyway.
it's Best to check w/a rep first
I know OP you dont have RP, but thinking this further, is the issue that these phone have to be first activated on a TF tmobile network? Is there a time frame after that they can be moved to say verizon RP (i dont mean unlocking, just functionally as in they receive and send calls and messages etc). Thanks again
Yes so the problem is red pocket, don't know why they don't just stick to one carrier.
Your phone cannot be moved to the TMobile network unless it is unlocked.
Like I mentioned as well:
get an Rsim and unlock the iPhone so you can use the red pocket sim with it. Just an alternate idea

You can always get an Rsim from eBay for $10-15 to unlock this phone and use with any other phone plan 🙂

I have no doubt that the TracFone sim will work, but in 12 months will the phone be unlocked by the company? that's the real question

I was able to unlock this way and about 25% of SD users have also reported the same experience, but we don't k ow if it has to do with the phone being an older model ( and newer models are more restricted?)
Since we cannot check phone by phone I also did provide info for the Rsim option.
