I noticed sams club has a champion and Westinghouse generator at pretty good prices. I was tempted to get one, but not sure I'd really use it except in rare power outages, plus the champion had no wheels, which to me is a deal breaker

Yes, but an "or" not an "and". You can run a refrigerator or gas furnace, but not both at the same time. You will need a way to get power to the furnace as they are usually hard wired to the electrical panel. I use an "ez generator" manual transfer switch.

BTW, these inverter generators work great for tailgating with a dorm size microwave.

A gas furnace should use around 500-700 watts peak. A typical modern refrigerator will probably be in the same range, but will vary more depending on size and energy efficiency.

This one has an inverter and I would suspect at those prices the Sam's ones do not. Inverters ramp the generator up and down based on needed output and saves fuel.

Depends on size. My furnace is about 1050W running and 1720W starting. (Granted this is the blower on the furnace plus the circulation fan on what in summer is a 5T unit for scale factor). 1/4hp go by is supposedly 600W/1000W

Refrigerators will vary a lot depending on Energy Star vs old and if they have inverters running the compressor. I've only "seen" mine draw 240W peak using my clamp meter but 200W running 800W starting for Energy Star supposed to be "typical".

My chest freezer was about 120W running and 840W starting which is more typical.
I have a dual fuel open frame inverter 3500W on the way from Walmart
I was looking at this one because light for camping/tailgating but wish it were dual fuel because I don't like messing with gas in carburetors of infrequently used stuff anymore.

Yeah that comparison doesn't even make sense. Those are dual fuel open frames and this is a gasoline only enclosed invertor.

Yeah probably more than a few people clicking for a deal on "a generator" but weren't really shopping or doing research on before they arrived here.
Great for tailgating/camping.
For those looking at for the first time. Inverter vs conventional or inverter open frame:
Weighs less (less than 50lb for this one), quieter, "cleaner" electricity in that the THD is lower, idles back efficiently even at less than 50% load.
This one marginal for backup unless running parallel or your stuff is small.
Just wish it had an LPG port.
