yep! This first episode is longer than a lot of non-episodic games though, so if that's your concern, I wouldn't worry. I've put more hours on this than any other ps4/ps5 titles I own, although I admittedly have a short attention span. Great game, wish I could the Intergrade version so I could have the DLC

If this was first game played ever in the series, is that ok? Or would someone be lost?

You'll be fine. All the games are independent unless they're numbered sequels, like X-2 or XIII-3.

Final Fantasy games don't have anything to do with each other. You can start with 15 and it won't matter. The only ones that actually connect are X-2 and XIII-2.

And never play X-2 if you truly loved X

Perfectly fine. Not connected to any others.

And XIII-3, though like someone said about X-2, don't bother with XIII-2 or XIII-3, Final Fantasy sequels seem to be universally awful.

The Final Fantasy Games are a series in that they have similar mechanics and gameplay elements. Each game up until 10 has a standalone story set in a different world, so you need not play any title before 10 sequentially.
