I used it yesterday and got the following email from Amazon

"Hello,

We have canceled your order and voided the Amazon gift card balance used in the purchase.

We took these actions because you tried to use Amazon.com gift cards that are in violation of our terms and conditions. We cannot reissue the Amazon.com gift cards or reimburse you for these funds. If this activity continues, we may take a permanent action on your account."

Wait, they basically took away your money?

The way I'm reading that is that you tried to redeem some GC's to buy some other GC's, and instead, Amazon said nope, we don't allow that, and oh btw, we're also not refunding your Amazon GC amount either.

Yes, Amazon has been known to do that. I have not heard of this particular sequence of events, but I have read about Amazon zeroing out your EXISTING OLD GC balance if you then load a GC and if a problem happens that the loaded GC. If you are unlucky, be ready for an outright account ban as well. They are pretty draconian about GCs. Moral of the story, try not to keep significant amount of GC balance on Amazon, or any other retailer.

To OP, sorry to hear about your situation. It is unfair and outright theft of money. Your options are to call and speak to a manager. Or email Jeff Bezos. I have seen his email floating out there and some folks have had resolutions after emailing him (pretty sure only his staff looks at it). Failing that, maybe the your state's AG office, though you will be most likely banned by going outside of Amazon.

The Amazon promo credit for the last Apple GC deal was only usable on sold by Amazon products and it applied as a discount to the product rather than a form of payment. My guess is that if you return the product you lose the promotional credit. I spent mine on something I was sure to keep. The Target deal was a gift card without restrictions.

Thinking about buying seven of the Lowe's gift cards and buying the Ego LM2156SP.

$800 price - 10% military/veteran discount = $720. At $90 per $100, the net cost would come to $648 plus tax.

Any flaws in my plan? Better deal or bigger discount I'm missing?

1) You can only use max 5 gift cards per order
2) if you cancel lowes order after entering gift card or if the item goes out of stock, you are in deep mess. lowes will take 2-3 weeks to send you a new store refund card.
