As for the Trooper 30, from my research the only thing that's really going to out perform it is probably the Engle HD. For me the form factor of the Trooper 30 won me over. The latching system vs waterproof zippers is so much easier to use in my opinion.
That's a nearly unbeatable price on the Venture; nice find. I haven't really fully looked into soft sided coolers very much yet, but it sounds like you have. I take it from your comment that waterproof zippers are pretty hard to come by? To me that would be a pretty important feature.
Dimensions: 21.00" L x 17.00" W x 11.00" D for the 30Q
Which I would think is the outside measurement so inside has to be pretty small after insulation and having to be able to close it...
But i guess if you can afford it to keep your 6 pack cold for 3 days its cool.
The latch is also the weak link. Reviews say it is prone to breaking. Even though the cooler has a lifetime warranty, that's a pain. I can attest to the latch being fairly thin. You really need to make sure you line things up correctly before you shut it. If you do that, you should be good to go.
The cooler is semi rigid. That and the odd shape make it a bit tough to get the most out of the capacity.
Overall I really like it, especially at this price point.
Pros
- lifetime warranty
- no zipper
- holds ice really well
- convenient shoulder strap
Cons
- potentially weak latch
- odd shape
- no handle on top
It definitely holds ice for at least 72hrs.
If you buy one, seriously consider putting some masking tape nearby the Latch with a written message telling people to not force the Latch or it'll break.

I ended getting a half price Yeti Hopper 18, at 150$. What made me change my mind on this deal was not just the latch, replacement 15$ on Etsy, and the time to replace latch, but also the fact these do show wear over time. They show a lot of wear particularly on the top (30 qt version). I've had a Yeti M30 for 5 years, moderately used, no wear, looks brand new. So I decided to just stick with Yeti. I love the durability of Yeti products. Yes, they are expensive, but if you can get them on sale - they last for a very long time and hold up perfectly. At least that is my experience. Happy Deal Hunting!

So, I have been looking at the Yeti as they are known to be top of the line with top of the line price point.
Can anyone share some experience with this brand and possibly compare with the yeti? I am open for sacrificing performance (up to a point) to save a significant cost. The yeti roadie 24 is $200.
Thanks in advance, you cooler experts 😬
Also, is a4c a legit site? Just asking.

There's lots of complaints here about the latch, but I haven't had a single issue with the latch on the 30Q. I can only guess all the complaints are on the 20Q latch, which is in fact troublesome, yet covered under warranty as another member said early on in this thread.

Assuming you are meaning the 20Q and not the 30Q?
