Some people collect, and others play physicals to experience the game then resell to get their money back. This is a game that significantly retains its value to do either.
And others, like me, prefer physical because I don't fully trust digital. "Scott Pilgrim" is proof of that. It went away and I have it saved on my PS3. Luckily it did come back but that may not always be the case for every title. I also have The Simpsons Arcade game saved on my PS3.

Just set up in store pickup for the last copy at my nearest location. I bought it as a gift for a friend. Is this a good title? He likes Harvest Moon and I think I read this game is by the original HM team.

Yes, it's fantastic. One guy actually created and developed the entire game himself.

It's very popular and appeals to a wide range of people. It was inspired largely by Harvest Moon though, so I think a HM fan will almost definitely enjoy Stardew Valley as well.
I did just want to say that the Stardew dev didn't work on HM though. You may be thinking of Story of Seasons, which is the new title that the original HM devs are now making games under.

YES! Thank you! That's what it was. Story of Seasons.
Some people do prefer physical copies versus digital and everyone has their reasoning, but if you're on the fence about this game and unsure if it's worth $26, just get the digital version. I bought one from eBay for like $6 after someone else mentioned it on here last time it went on sale.
