Three main differences are 1.) Video bitrate/compression (you'll see more artifacts on the digital copies) and 2.) Audio fidelity (most are limited to compressed multichannel where as discs are full lossless) and 3.) you own a disc (licenses can and have expired leaving you with nothing). BONUS: the discs usually come with a digital copy. I can tell the difference on my OLED but not so much on my LCD.

There's a lot of data missing between a 12Gb digital copy and an 80Gb UHD disc.
Good movies if you don't have them but kind of hard to find four with all the repeats they have

Pretty sure they are the theatrical version. Extended edition is specified on MA and other retailer sites. Even for theatrical version it is still the lowest price.

FINALLY, you've got to do this for every media that comes out. So far: rabbit ears, vhs, laserdisc, dvd and blu-ray I've fallen asleep to 2001: A space odyssey

NOW IN UHD!

Big Grin

OMG, I already own most of this . . .

Based on movie length of 178 mins (fellowship of the ring), it's theatrical

Can anyone speak to the difference in quality between a 4k disc (my preference) and one of these digital downloads in 4k? Is it a night and day difference or pretty comparable?

Is this limited to just one set of 4 - or unlimited?

Is Digital 4K UHD the best you can get now days for digital? Just asking. I'm sure this is great format for 4K and I wouldn't know the difference.

Thanks

This is a good comparison. For me, the differences are so minor that the convenience of streaming wins out every time.
