Doesn't come with a cutting mat. Michaels has at same price, no vinyl, but does come with cutting mat. How important is cutting mat? and is 20 vinyl sheets a better value than a cutting mat? (I'm interested Cricut, but have zero experience, except watched a video.)

You have to have a cutting mat to use the machine.. Vinyl is expensive so it's a better deal to get the sheets included and buy the mat separately since they are cheap

The mat is included with the cricut. See the description, there are 3 items in the bundle and the Sku for the cricut does includes the cutting mat.

I want to get this for my wife but I remember her mentioning that Cricut now charges monthly subscription service which I think turn her off. Is that true?

They reversed course on charging to upload after customer outcry. They do have a plan that allows you designs and a premium feature(only one for now) plus discounts if you buy from them. It isn't necessary to have though. The biggest downside is it is a web based software so Cricut could make your cutter unusable if they don't support the machine any longer.

I got the 139 deal with $30 digital credit.
Anyone knows what that credit can be used for?
Wondering if this is a better deal for 150.
Primary use will be for my daughter to make stickers.
First timer so don't have a lot of background on what accessories are needed.

As far as I know, the monthly subscription is for accessing a ton of svg files which are the different patterns and fonts etc that you can cut out. I think it's about $10 a month and we pay it because it is quite a bit of stuff but in all honesty you can find quite a bit of free svg files and use websites to convert images into svg files etc. I don't think you need to pay a monthly fee just to use the machine unless you want to make things a little easier and save some time

This one would not cut wood. I have it and I regret not buying the maker. You can get the maker (previous model) for 199 at Cricut. I think it's a better deal.
