Ah yes, destroying $1000+ worth of hardware on a $15 PSU. I too like the live life on the edge.
I'm going to use this $15 PSU to revive 8 year old, was $400 hardware.

I picked one up the last time they were on sale. I converted it to a bench power supply for working on Arduino projects. Really nice setup for this purpose and the price is right on point.

Also, there's a picture of the side of the PSU here:

80Plus White, 35A on a single 12v rail (420W max), so no red flags there for low powered systems. Without knowing what's inside it, I can't say whether it's better or worse than others that are considered "Tier D", but the reviews on Amazon seem quite favorable. Even with ReviewMeta attempting to filter out the shills it has a 4.6 after 16,000 ratings.

PC crashing, not powering on, boot loops, fried components, etc. if you're waiting for signs. or you could proactively swap out your power supply before it craps. the best of the best have 10-12 year warranties.
funnily enough i have a 15 year old antec psu still going strong.. at about 12 years i got concerned simply due to age and replaced it with a new (non antec) one, which ironically broke after a year or two (took my monitor, keyboard, and audio interface with it) .. put the antec back in

So not good for a home built NAS? I am sticking 4 3.5 14tb drives in an old Lenovo P300 setup (no GPU). It came with a 280w Bronze.

People recommend I get a little better PSU?

This isn't really the same thing, but I have several vintage computers that are still running fine with their original power supplies. One is an original IBM PC 5150 (the first x86 computer), others are Apple IIe, and other systems from the 80s and 90s. I'll be honest, aside from components that are known failure points (very old tantalum capacitors that may or '80s era RIFA X2 "safety" caps that almost always explode), the vast majority of my vintage stuff works with minimal repairs needed.

I know modern equipment is more sensitive and significantly higher power (the old IBM only has a 63.5W power supply), but generally I don't go crazy with power supply swapping unless its a notoriously horrible power supply (Mid 2000s Bestec?), has unusual coil whine or stability problems or it has been through some kind of serious electrical event (surge that damaged other equipment, lightning strike, etc.).

That said, I like to have good power supplies on hand for situations that call for them. I bought a whole bunch of those EVGA 650W SuperNova GT (considered "Tier A") units that were like $50 earlier this year. Those will last decades whether I use them in other builds or not. As a bonus, if my Seasonic Focus Plus Platinum PX650 ever gets smoked I actually have a top of the line replacement on hand.
