I remember reading something about WD downgrading their nand or something that reduced performance. Might want to look into that.

Not that most users would notice and other vendors like Crucial, ADATA, Patriot, have all done it. This however doesn't excuse this type of behavior.

you'll need to check the writing on the NAND flash and or check firmware to determine if you have the crippled flash or the older ones.

"Blue" is WD's budget line of drives, and this one has pretty darn slow r/w speeds. If you're coming from a traditional spinning platter HDD, this will be great as an OS drive. Prices are cheap because there is no drive shortage (at least at the moment), with a ton of different players. I've seen good prices on Sabrent and Samsung drives too. A lot of people are looking for very fast NVME's with heat sink in order to upgrade the PS5 storage, so there's probably not much demand for lower-tier drives like this one
