1) Soome say the Rec Tec gives smokier flavor due to exhaust system of one compared other. This has to do with how the smoke is exhausted however, i believe the Traeger comes with an ultra smoke option which ultimate lowers the temperate so the smoke has more time to "soak" into the meat.
2) The materials of the Rec Tec are just plain better. Stainless steel all around. Traeger powder coats steel. Now if you cover the Traeger and it's under something (patio, etc.) protected from elements, this may not be as big of deal but I think the materials allow Rec Tec to retain heat better.
3) Pellet hopper is bigger on Rec Tec. You buy a 20 lb bag of pellets and can only put 18 lbs in the Traeger. Doesn't make much sense since Traeger sells 20 lb bags. This may be moot as you likely arent using 18 lbs in one cook (low and slow is like 1lb an hour); however, who wants to keep an almost unfilled bag of pellets around
4) The Rec Tec (while the same number) is a bigger grill. The Rec Tec number system is just the flat large surface without the "second shelf". Traeger size includes the second shelf.
That being said, Traeger's auger system is on point. Probably one of the best out there. Also, Traeger can easily empty the hopper via a flap vs. Rec Tec which you have to "scoop" back out.
That being said, I almost bit on this smoker on Black Friday but decided against. For this cost, I may be a buyer
I have a Rt-700 and it's a seriously heavyweight, solid piece of equipment. It's noticably more robust than my Weber Genesis grill. The lid is super heavy.
I've kicked the tires, so to speak, on the Traegers I see at Costco and Lowes. They are super flimsy and even janky compared to my Recteq. Considering their premium price, they do not in any way feel like a premium product to me.

I love my Traeger, but definitely open to getting a different smoker when I replace it. Can you please elaborate more about their better quality?

Anyways, once I started looking into things, I decided to either get a Recteq or Grilla. I decided to go with the Recteq since they seem heavier duty and more robust than the Grillas. More stainless steel with the Recteq too.
But yeah, it does seem that Grilla makes a great pellet grill at a good price. They are just a bit cheaper than Recteq too.
