This is 10 dollars lower than black Friday. I would buy this if I didn't have 3 carpet cleaners already. I have a old Hoover spin scrub and a new Hoover pet something. I also have a Bissell proheat which I had to have replaced under warranty because the motor burned out. I took it to a local vacuum store and they gave me a new one soon after. I do prefer the Hoover's to bissell . Most of the Hoover's use a 10 amp motor instead of this Bissells 6.8 amp motor which always sounds loud and like it needs a break. I'm much more comfortable with the Hoover's and since this is there best unit I would bet its pretty good.
Carpet cleaning is safe for pets like dogs and cats BUT if you have pets with sensitive respiratory systems such as parrots or birds, please use a parrot safe cleaner such as F10SC. 99% of carpet cleaners listed as safe for pets are toxic for birds and can even be harmful to dog's lungs. So make sure you choose something safe and that you've done your research on. Best cleaners doesn't always mean safest cleaners. Plenty of products that were safe for decades have been linked to serious health concerns and banned later.
What I like about F10SC is there is no off gasing that can be harmful, vets and professionals actually use diluted amounts of it in nebulizers and humidifiers to treat lung infections in parrots reptiles. There is also the F10SCXD which contains detergent and will require washing after to remove the detergents. The way to think about it is detergents break down organic compounds that contain bacteria which allows the disinfectants to than kill the bacteria and viruses where without the detergent the organic compounds would still be there and continue producing bacteria after the disinfectant.
Typically if you're using a detergent you want to off-gas after by opening all the windows and continue to wash the carpet with water afterwards to remove the detergents after they've remove the organic compounds. Leaving it in your carpet would lead to residue which can be harmful for many pets and plants. It's highly regarded in the treatment of MRSA also.

#the detachable handle cum pre treat sprayer makes it feel flimsy
#the shampoo intake leaks on mine so in have to mix shampoo with water anyways
#auto spray on forward and dry on reverse makes it real easy but be careful if you have hardwood floors too .. you can end up with inadvertent sprays with a slight forward motion
#upholstery hose and cleaner head are just marvellous

Mine is going back coz of the leak though
My shampoo intake also leaked but was able to resolve it. Found out that if there's a bit of liquid pooling in the intake when you are inserting the shampoo container then it doesn't create a seal properly which leaves room for the shampoo to leak out. Once I wiped all the fluid in the intake area and on my shampoo container then I didn't have anymore problems with leaking. I just made sure whenever I added more shampoo that the intake area was as dry as possible.
Overall I like the Hoover; bought it on BF. first carpet cleaner and was able to see a dramatic improvement in my carpets.
I was just shopping for carpet cleaners today, watching youtube reviews... given the substantial discount off retail this is a no brainer. Purchased!
It should be noted that the Bissell Pro cleaning solution performed the best on this youtube video, so for best results purchase this cleaning solution and mix it at a ratio of 4 or 5 ounces per gallon.

I'm disappointed that Shark hasn't released a carpet cleaning machine that acts like their ultra popular "Rotator Lift-Away". Currently I have a full-size Hoover carpet cleaner, and a portable Bissell Little Green machine for when my dog creates a mess in my car (needed it 3 months ago when he had diarrhea in my car). If there was a "Lift-away" shampoo machine, I could simply have 1 machine and detach when I need to bring it into my car for cleaning. My portable Bissell broke a month ago so I'm in need of a portable machine.
Purchased on BF for $149. Contacted Walmart Chat. They no longer refund the difference. It was only $10. The kicker is the rep then gave me a 10% refund of $15 back to my CC. Crazy how their own policy of not price adjusting anymore worked against them and scored me an extra $5 back.

Any of those top 3 brands should work though if you stick to higher amounts per gallon in the 4-5 ounce range.

Because this machine is literally a "pet carpet cleaner" . . .
