These 3090s run scary HOT (and LOUD if pushed)!
The problem is with the VRAM temperatures. I know that not everyone will be using this for mining (this applies for gaming as well), but to give you an idea, I'm at a pathetic 70 MH/s with the glass panel removed, underclocked, undervolted, and the GPU fans at 100% constantly. With all of those measures in place, it STILL runs at 96-98°C. That's the coolest I can get it to run while still maintaining a pathetic 70MH/s. My 3060 ti gets 60MH/s for perspective.
This is relevant to gamers because the VRAM will still cook if you run even a moderate game. I cannot stress enough to anyone who buys one to use MSI Afterburner (or similar) to monitor your VRAM temps.
Here's a decent video on the matter https://youtu.be/cCMTK0FIFDU[/url]]. Based on this, I already have replacement thermal pads, heatsinks, and two 80mm fans on order dedicated for this 3090. That's the only band-aid I've found to help this monster out, but I'm not very optimistic it's going to help much.
I hope this info helps someone make a more informed decision, as HP has horrible return policies.
And if you want to return it's a 15% restocking fee (400 USD give or take)
So watch out. HP is not very friendly.

Also, there's no need to keep side off. If you're messing with the clocking for deep learning or mining then you'll likely want the sides off and more fans, but for gaming it's cool enough
