The classic II compared to the Classic I isn't much of an upgrade, especially at $899 vs $399, which we just saw.

You get the airlift hinge, upgraded gasket with locking mechanism and the control tower top. Some would actually say that the control tower top is a downgrade over the daisy wheel though.

You are right, if you can still find the Classic I for $399. But the fact that the Classic I are now for $700, the upgrade to Classic II is worth it for an additional $200.

Yea, I just feel that anyone that was interested in these grills would have jumped on the Classic I "steals". There is still a high chance that those deals return because many retailers still have stock of the classic I. Definitely worth waiting a bit to see what pops up before and after the Holidays, imo.

Atlanta Grill Company has this for 999 and includes a Joetisserie. If you don't plan on buying that accessory, this is the better deal.

Just a warning that Amazon tried to deliver a KJ to me twice and it went through a third party delivery service and they didn't arrive. I'm still not sure if it was stolen or couldn't be delivered. But it was a lot of heartache.

The $899 price is from the shady third party seller, not Amazon.

I've looked for a while but couldn't find any way to put the airlift hinge on classic 1, do you know if it's possible by paying some for upgrades? While other upgrades don't seem to be worth it at $400 vs $900, classic II with airlift may be necessary if my wife or others cannot lift the heavy lid of v1.

Sorry I haven't researched if changing the hinge is possible. I would assume that it is. However, I can say that the lid isn't THAT heavy. You'd have to be either extremely short or weak to not be able to lift it.
