Where the AirTag struggles is short bluetooth range of only 30 measly feet, low volume, no keyring hole (so dumb) so an additional accessory $10-30 is another cost and no find my phone ring button which is a huge con for me. I got 2 iphones so I am most likely still going to buy the airtag but I am going to wait for a sale.
Bottom line is Apple is an opt out system and Samsung is an opt in system. Even in markets where they have the same installed base, the opt out ecosystem will have larger numbers.
Is it possible to connect multiple Samsung phones or Apple phones to one tracker? I don't think you can with Apple. I tried to connect my Samsung Galaxy A71 5G and Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite tablet but was rejected so I doubt that. I know with apple that one can connect 1 phone with like 16 AirTag but I'm talking about the other way around. 1 tracker with multiple phones. I don't think it is possible with either Samsung and Apple. Versatility to work among various operating systems and to also be link 1 tracker to many devices is a big pro to me.
*** I ran a comparison test between my Samsung SmartTag vs my tile pro 2022. I even put both in lost mode to see when and often both would be found by others. They both work very well and there are some things that I prefer one over the other. I do like them both a lot. I decided to buy another tile pro. Instead of the tile pro 2022, I bought the tile pro 2020 (midnight oasis) because it was cheaper and I didn't want two identical black trackers.
I did buy one though, because, well, I was here anyway.
Tile squandered their time on the market and Apple's AirTag became a superior product.
1) Apple works only with Apple phones. Tile works with IOS, Samsung and other Android phones.
2) An airtag tracker can't work with multiple phones. A single Tile tracker can.
3) An airtag can't share. With Tile, you can share.
4) Volume is too low. Tile and SmartTag both have much louder speakers.
5) Bluetooth range is a measly 30 feet.... not 400 feet like the Tile and SmartTag.
6) No keyring hole so one needs to pay an additional $10-30 for a holder. Tile and SmartTag has that.
7) No double press phone finder that both Tile and SmartTag have.
8) Warns and protects thieves with beeps/notifications.
9) Tracker durability issues that are prone to scratches/scuffs. Tile Pro 2022 is the most durable of the 3.
One can't just talk about its large apple finder network and just glance over its obvious cons. A "superior" bluetooth tracker wouldn't have that many cons. Also there are tons of iphone users happily using Tile and that is part of the reason why the IOS Tile app has a 4.8 out of 5 star rating with nearly 500K reviewers in the Apple store. The android app has a 4.7 out of 5 star rating.
