The answer is no. It's strictly for eshop purchases and also can be used to get the god awful nintendo online

I bought the same for $89.99 at Costco just last night. $89.99 is the standard price for it at Costco so this seems very ymmv.

$89.99 for me when I bought it a week ago also. But the $50 gift cards are now $40 online, which would be the same as this deal.

Problem is that so many games now require digital updates to fix bugs that were found after carts were made.

And they aren't shutting down the Wii U shop yet, you can't buy things with credit cards starting in 2022, but you can still use credit from these gift cards to buy. I think it's got something to do with the lack of security surrounding that digital storefront. I mean you enter the 3ds storefront and you can buy anything without entering a password. So limiting it to Eshop funds at least limits the damage that can be done.

Yes you can share with 1 other switch but your account has to be logged onto both switches. Primary switch can play on any account and secondary switch, you must use your account with the games to play.

But you can't sell the game when you're done with it or if you get swindled by a sucky game. I only buy physical so I can salvage some value if I don't end up liking the game.

Also, they can't someday pull the plug on a server and end my access to a game that I paid for. Hardware obsolescence aside…
