1. Turned the phone on without sim
---- Connect to WIFI --
2. Went to Settings, Connections
3. Select Network Unlock
4. Select Permanent Unlock
5. Done
6. Update to Android 11
7. Check with a non-TMO SIM to see if you can make and receive calls.
I think it's still a good phone for $250 but just know there are issues with it.

The only problem though is that I found the battery drains much faster than I expected. The battery was 100% upon arrival. I finished settings and 81% battery was left. Then I shut down the phone overnight and only 40% battery left next morning when it was turned on. In the next few days, I turned on the battery saver, adjusted 90-Hz refresh rate to 60-Hz refresh rate, and turned off bluetooth and location, the battery only lasted two days with average of about 2 hours of usage daily (mostly checking webpages and watching one or two very short videos). Does anyone have similar experience on the battery of this phone? Is the battery normal? Not sure if I should return it. Thanks.

Here's a brand new $250 phone, but it's locked to Boost. Slightly larger battery and flat screen but Slower charging and a snapdragon 765 instead of the 865.

This Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy S20 FE was on sale for $249 on black Friday at Walmart.com but I passed on it because it's locked to straight talk.

wife's plan is metro pcs which is tmobile btw.
after unlocking the phone, and updates, i put the metro pcs sim card into the new phone, it did not work.
took to tmobile store , they could not get it working,
after tmobile acquiring metropc there are fewer stores in the area.
metropcs got the sim working on this new phone after several tries. they charged $22 for their effort.
wifey likes the phone as she switched from 5 year old Samsung phone. 😊

The OnePlus does get you 5G. That's the only real compelling reason to consider.
The bigger issue is that if trying to activate it on Sprint you will get a message that the device isn't compatible with Sprint. You will need to get it whitelisted 1st. SD user hodaddy referred me to a user on reddit revik2 who can help you out getting it whitelisted. Just PM him on reddit and he will ask for your IMEI. He was super helpful and responsive and my phone was able to register on Sprint with his help.

I guess you would be ok with buying a New SAMSUNG or IPHONE with less specs than last year's model and pay the same or more

Some upgrades are truly significant. Some are relatively irrelevant to the end-user experience. Most of the spec differences between the two phones being discussed are of the latter type.

Those are the facts. It's true nobi NEEDS them but will people pay more money for less? Would you?
BTW. You didn't answer my question

If I were running a phone company, I'd introduce new specs every iteration, just like all of them do. Because you want to be able to assert your new model is better. It doesn't mean the new model is actually better in any way that matters.
