Can anyone comment on one of these expensive massage guns vs a cheap one? I bought a cheap one ($30) and can't figure out why anyone would spend 300 on a better one.

I bought a cheap one and visually it looks the same as the higher end but when you use it you can tell the difference in the quality of the unit and the quality of the massage it's giving you. Not that the cheap one isn't usable, it definitely is, but its quality is not nearly up there with the big guys. That being said, I don't know that the cost/benefit is there to spend that much more. I bought mine for 30ish. If you start pushing into the hundred range I'd probably get the name brand at that point.

The common answer I see is that the higher end ones like theragun can do deeper tissue massage. I think it was said too that this would mean like for your quads and things like that.
I bought a theragun myself, but I have to say a frustrating thing is that if you want to use it on your back, you kinda need to have someone help you. There are much cheaper models of different brands (like $100-$150 maybe) that have a sort of long handle/arm you can hold, so that you can do your own back though.
edit: the arm sort of massager that I've tried is called Purewave. I liked it pretty well, for being able to use it on myself and all. It's a little bulky though. Looks like it is currently $110 on padousa.

I've thought the same thing. My $35 one I bought on clearance satisfies me. I couldn't justify spending another $100+ even if it gives a better massage and feels more well built. To each their of course. We all see value in different ways.

I have purchased 3 massage guns at this point: Theragun Pro, a $90 one, and a $30 one.
Do I think the Theragun is worth the price difference? Absolutely. My girlfriend was seeing a massage therapist several times a month for back pain. I bought her one and she hasn't had the need to go back since.
The big difference is one will give you a deep tissue massage vs vibrate. The cheaper ones feel like a vibrating phone in your pocket (much stronger of course) vs the Theragun as small punches to the body. The major difference being the stroke/amplitude of the two guns. Do a search for "theragun meat test" on youtube for a visual.
Is the $30 one worth it? Yes.
Is the $90 one worth it? Compared to the $30 one, no.
Is the Theragun worth it? Yes. You get what you pay for in this case.
I saw no difference between the $90 and the $30 ones.
Bought the Elite from Amazon on BF and they sent me 2 defective units. First had a screw rattling inside the gun so I sent it back for a replacement. Second unit they sent me didn't turn on when it was fully charged. Their quality control is horrible. I'm hesitant to get another one because I don't want to get another defective unit.
