First time posting, trying to get this right YMMV, I stopped by my local Lowes in 98012, I just wanted to see the thing in person, seemed odd they were the only location in the area with these in stock, and now I have one in the back of my car. Not going to go into the merits of this model, but seemed like a great way to dip my toes into the kamado style, I'm coming from a basic charcoal metal grill and this will be a huge upgrade for $149.

Great deal! Awesome for long smokes as it has better insulating properties then ceramic styles. Store it out of the elements if you can or it will rot away in a few years

$298 near me (Cleveland area). Amazing deal if you can get it for $150. I just upgraded to a Kamado joe (Walmart deal) but loved my Akorn. Cooked on it for 5 years and just gave it to a family member.

My BS still shows 298 at the store I took the photo at, glad I happened to be in the area, Lowe's isn't terribly close to me so I usually miss these.

I own both (started Akorn and sold the wife to upgrade with briskets and pulled pork). Let me clarify the "no" comment. People get sensitive about their grills and the money spent. The Akorn does not insulate better, my Vision ceramic is cooler to the touch outside and holds/controls temp better.
The Akorn is a great intro for the price, is lighter to move, and easier to clean ashes. I personally prefer SS grates for ease of cleaning, Akorn is cast iron, but there is a Weber grate that fits for I think $30ish. Also grab a stone or cheap pizza pan for indirect since it does not come with one.

I picked one up $128 out the door earlier today. BS and lowes app showed $298 but in store was $119.17 also they had more in stock then what showed on the app or BS.

According to this article, akorn keeps heat better. But obviously ceramic has advantages in durability.

Great price. I see 5 stores OOS in my area and one with 3 in stock at $298. I am on my 7th season and the second cover. It should last at least another 3 years. I paid $215 plus tax and definitely got my money's worth over the years.

You will find many articles that state the opposite.

I used an Akorn for many years and still have an Akorn Jr. I currently also have the 24" Louisiana Grills Kamado from Costco and a Kamado Joe Jr. I prefer the ceramic ones for other reasons but from my experience the Akorns definitely seem to hold heat and control temperature better.

Started with the akorn, moved to the kamado classic 2, then the kamado joe jr.. I can say without a doubt that temp management is far better on the joes..

I had the akorn and eventually it was used to just cook with charcoal…then I ended up with a flat top and a Traeger. Yes it's cool to have a green egg type grill but it just wasn't efficient. Still was too much babysitting for me when it comes to smoking things and the temperature definitely was up and down with it.
