This drive is better than most drives in its class short of Samsung PRO and other flagship high performance drives and it has lower power consumption making it perfect for laptops.
I haven't but I have two for 2 years and they are perfect no issues. I have an insane amount of writes and reads to them as well. At this price, it's worth the risk maybe. I like them.

NVMe is faster than any SATA SSD, & more convenient to install -- as long as you don't drop the screw -- but depending on brand/model they can run hot enough to require a heatsink, & most people will never need or notice the increased speed from the fastest NVMe drives in day to day use.
There's a review from 2020 here: tomshardware[.]com/reviews/sk-hynix-gold-s31-sata-ssd-review-sk-hynix-barrels-into-us-market
Results from one I picked up BF seem to match the review and my 860 EVO FWIW. *Might* run a little warmer than some other brands.
I ordered the geek squad refurbished Evo 870 1GB from Bestbuy for $69.99 last week and it will arrive this Monday. Should I buy this instead and return the Evo 870?
Assume you mean 1TB... Whether to return the 870 EVO or not, IMHO, depends on how you feel about refurbs -- some prefer them because they've been more thoroughly checked out that the average new SSD -- & what kind of warranty you got -- it might be easier to get service out of BB if you worry about that sort of thing. Performance between the 2 should be pretty close.

All SSD's have certain lifespans and they could be shorter than advertised, refurbished ones already consumed certain amount, so just get new ones instead of refurbished.

If I were you, yes. Manufacturers warranty (vs geek squad) for 5 ducks.
I was going to get 500GB from BestBuy refub but getting this deal for 4.xx dollar more. I have NVMe version of 1TB already. It works completely fine (I also have Samsung Pro SSDs). Hynix is very well known for quality.
CS in Korea was OK but I am unsure in the U.S.

GeekSquad refurb drives have a reputation to be almost brand new. You can download Samsung Magician software to check the drives lifespan.
There is not much of a difference between these two drives that warrants swapping IMO
This is a great drive!!! I have one in my wife's laptop and one in my daughter's laptop. Both are about 1 year now and going strong. These are great prices for a great product.
I've bought three SKHynix drives in the last two years. A 500gb and two 1 TB SSD's. All have worked flawlessly with fast speeds. I installed the 500 gb in my dad's old pc for a speed boost. No complaints from him so far. I use a 1 TB for my games in my PC. I used the other one in my Atomos Ninja 5 to record 4K60 prores footage and haven't had any skipped frames. Highly recommend these drives!
What many may know or not, skHynix is a huge memory maker - in fact they make half the memory for computers, phones, printers etc. they were mostly enterprise to enterprise sales only, but in last few years they entered the consumer retail. So skhynix is actually much better brand than no name brands ssds
