Hate all you want, I'll take all the free games they'll give me
What is wrong with you people? You make us all look bad, and make this site a worse place to spend time.
By your own admission you state Steam is practically a monopoly, then you cry foul when Epic has an exclusive, are you serious? Also news flash, Sony and Microsoft both have consoles for their systems and have done so for decades, are they also bad because you can't play Halo on your Playstation or Uncharted on your Xbox? And you think neither of them have thrown money at a developer for an exclusive, be it timed or not? Another news flash: yes, they have, many times. It's just business.
Epic also takes a 12% cut (or so they say) vs. Steam taking 30% making it more friendly to the dev/pub.
I don't have any issues with the Epic launcher having a memory leak after being closed, cite your source.
And lack of reviews isn't a big deal, there's thing thing we're all on here called THE INTERNET, we're capable of doing our own research before buying. To be quite honest I never read Steam reviews anyway (unless they're funny) I prefer to watch Youtube footage and hit up Metacritic if I'm on the fence about buying a game.
And also as you mentioned, Steam has been around 5x longer than Epic, they've had a lot more time to refine and polish their platform, yet when a big Steam sale happens there's a day 1 crush and their site slows to a crawl.
I use Steam on a regular basis, I own over 1000 games on it, even freebies like I snag on Epic every week. I don't hate on Steam, I don't hate on Epic, I also don't hate on the fact that we PC players have to have 15 launchers to play our games, that's just the way it is. If you like Assassins Creed, you're gonna need Ubisoft Connect. If you like GTA V, you're going to need R* Launcher, and then there's games that require Battle.net, Bethesda Launcher, and so on.
You're going to have to come back with far better points other than "Epic bad because dumb reasons" to make a valid argument.

That said, I still grab the free games via the web (launcher is never installed) and have built up a nice library.
