Price keeps dropping every few days. At this rate, it may drop under $50 by the 1st of the year.

Is this the new remastered, but not actually remastered version?

OK, OK, I'm a sucker. Do I need 3 versions of the same movie(s)? No, but, what the hell... This is a good excuse to watch them with the family for the 10th+ time during the Holidays.

This is what i was wondering as well. I heard there was suppose to be a new new remastered remastered version that was suppose to come out at some point... Is this the final form lol?

I really want to rewatch the series at some point as well.

If you don't need physical copy, you can get all 3 for $15 on Vudu right now, and the hobbit trilogy for another $15. 4k Dolby vision and Atmos.

My understanding is the 4K is the same, what's getting a new remastering is the BD version & some special feature extra content.

If you're specifically interested in Dolby Vision and Atmos, why would you settle for streaming-level compression? Isn't that kind of like playing CDs through a cassette player adapter. Not a perfect analogy, but I digress.

Because most people who are budget shopping on Slick Deals probably won't have the speaker set up to be able to tell the difference

You say that, and yet I've read multiple threads with people discussing their home theater setups.

Just because you're wealthy enough to own a home theater doesn't mean you don't shop for deals. Most millionaires are frugal.

So i added this to my cart and went thru with purchase.

Crazy thing, price went to 59.99

I went back to the item and it was still showing @ 51.26, so took a screenshot of it and contacted customer service.

Even crazier, after an hour of going back and forth, they were unwilling to help at all with the price.

Taking my business elsewhere, Amazon is really dropping the ball on their service. It's terrible.

They really are dropping the ball. I got it the other day for $54ish and asked if they would adjust my price to $51.26 and they wouldn't. I know plenty of retailers who will adjust the price if it changes within 2 weeks after a sale. Weak Amazon.

I am looking forward to watching these on 4K Blu Ray though! My understanding is it's not a majorly dramatic improvement over the Blu Ray, but it is the best way to see it currently.

lol. It's at $53.49 now for me. I would probably buy it if it dropped around $45... maybe (since I already have the BluRay version). What I'm hoping is the Hobbit collection drops to around this much, so I can get those. If the price was showing differently as you purchased, that's pretty lame that Amazon wouldn't adjust it, though.

Yeah I even took a screenshot. Going to start shopping less at Amazon, their CS sucks now
