Just FIY, if you see the regular version of "The Battle of Five Armies" among the other Extended Version movies, and think that they don't have it - they do. It's just below a few rows.

Don't do like I did - buy the regular version, and regret it.

Just to clarify, no "trilogies" or bundles are part of the sale.... Individual movies that make up those trilogies/bundles are. I thought OP stumbled upon a pricing mistake at first

Genuine question.
Do most people who buy these do it for collecting, or because they don't utilize streaming services? I would love to cut Netflix or Hulu, but it would take me forever to build a decent library, and I do like some of their own in-house content.

What is the long term benefit?

I bought a couple of 4K blu rays to see how much better they were, and the difference to me felt so marginal—effectively I couldn't see one. Do you have any recommendations?

Having access to your favorite movies that aren't on Netflix or Hulu. If you only watch new content and don't rewatch movies or don't mind being limited to what your streaming service currently offers... then you're going to save 15 bucks here. Personally, I'm eyeing LOTR extended for about 1/3 the lowest current cost on disc. That's a set I might prefer on physical media though.

I have been working my way to more digital versions for a little while now as physical disc storage is a problem for me. I still prefer the actual 4k disc for movies I really like and want to "keep".

I can tell you in my theater room I do notice a difference in the actual disc vs streamed - quite noticeable actually. Audio is a big difference. On all my other regular (i.e. not a huge projector screen) 4k tvs streaming is just fine and other than maybe some of the audio I don't notice any issues. I see no reason to have the actual 4k disc over the digital unless you have a big projector screen/theater room.

I will say that I really try hard not to get a digital film unless it is MA compatible in order to keep my digital collection in only 3 places (MA for digital movies, PLEX for all movies I have ripped for years, and Itunes for digital TV shows). I only wish MA did TV that would be great.

This is where Amazon fails to make a competing offer. As people buy these movies they are pulled towards Vudu and their streaming services.

Disc quality is always better especially on the audio side, there is a significant drop with streaming.
As people have pointed out much depends on your equipment and preference.
The advantage to streaming is convenience.

It would depend on how well your players upscales, how important the quality of the AQ is vs convenience of streaming.

The BD version is a good transfer especially on the AQ side,4K streaming doesn't close to it.

With a good player the upscaling is not far behind 4K streaming.
