Fantastic machine and great deal! Make it slicker by using your Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Flex! Extra 5% back!
Wait really?!?! I tried to look if Lenovo had any cashback deals yesterday on my Chase app before I placed my order but didn't see any. Where do you get the 5% from?

Was going to get a mid-tier laptop for my kid but decided to spend a couple of hundreds more for this. I suppose a ThinkPad T can endure youngsters' abuse, LOL.

I still have two ThinkPads, one X201 from 10+ years ago and one T420 from 9+ years ago. They still work!

Yeah, this one's completely dead. Funny enough, they're showing a promo code THINKNEWYEARDEAL in their banner actively right now which also says it's expired when you try to use it.

Tried the deal, you can still add the promos. However, no luck on actually checking out. 😭 Guess it wasn't meant to be lol

Not sure that's true. Spec-for-spec the T14s is more expensive. Most importantly it is equipped with LPDDR4266MHz ram vs 3200MHz, which has a noticeable impact on most Zen3 workloads. This is offset a bit by the dual heatpipes on the T14 vs. T14s, and being ignorant of how Lenovo configures their TDP, all other things being equal, the T14s should be a bit faster for burstier workloads, whereas the T14 should pull ahead for sustained loads.
I believe the T14s also has a lot less plastic in its build. T14 case is pretty much entirely plastic + glass fiber. The T14s is carbon fiber + aluminum
From the spec sheet :
T14: PPS / 50% GF (top), PC + ABS / Talc15 + magnesium alloy (keyboard cover), PA / 50% GF (bottom)
T14s : carbon fiber hybrid (top), magnesium (keyboard cover), aluminium (bottom)
However, one nicer thing about the T14 vs T14s is that the key travel is 0.3mm longer in this generation, IIRC.
Quote from Oxyg3n520 View quoted comment :
Does the "s" have more aluminum dominant build? It also does have a 57Wh battery instead of a 50Wh on the T14. This is interesting because I had always thought the "s" models were marketed as more expensive.
I'm going mainly by what redditors say, as I've been researching heavily for the last month. I had a chance between T15 vs T15s, and beyond portability everyone agreed the T15 was a better machine. And you are correct the heating seems to be a big sticking point "runs very hot and 90°C while gaming isn't unusual". As T14 has 2 pipes and 14s has 1. T14s has very powerful processor with inadequate cooling - even after thermo paste etc. Couple that with soldered parts if 1 thing goes wrong down the road there is no way to fix it.
I think 14s is more expensive due to light weight, not quality (compared to T14). They packed a lot into that machine into it.
Anyways can't really go wrong with any of them, but imo and my anecdotal research the winner is T14.

Would you know if all the things said about the T14 of this gen hold for the T15?
Yes, except the T15 supposedly cools slightly better. I just got a T15. I'd been researching for approx a month. I really wanted a P15, but T15 is 11th gen so better.
