TU for an UW deal! Decent specs, I want to move from a 34" 1440p to a 38" 1600p with 144hz+ refresh, but these prices are still a little high I feel like, especially with how many ultrawide monitors are on the market now.

I got the Dell AW3821DW for $1170 but I'm looking at the LG 38GN950-B.AUS with envy. The LG 38GN950-B.AUS has better color gamut, HDR and viewing angle. But that's like having Kate Upton as your wife and you keep looking at Miranda Kerr.

I had both and the Alienware is a better model. I returned the LG. They have the same panel so the differences are very slight, but Dell has a better warranty.

Why not Samsung 49" for a thousand over this? That's 240hz, 5120x1440p gsync. Amazing monitor I got last month for $924

the samsung 49 is VA panel, many people prefer IPS for color (e.g for art work). 49 might be too wide for some.

Not gonna argue warranty with you but no one has the guts to compete with Costco.

I have this monitor.

Had issues with dead pixels out of the box... unacceptable for something this expensive

Color shift going red to green horizontally (both this and the Alienware/Dell 38" have the same panel and issue, how much will depend on your unit)

Your windows will rearrange when the monitor sleeps or you turn it off (on the AW/Dell, your windows will stay put)

Vignetting around the edges

Has SRGB mode unlike the Dell/AW

Overall great monitor for mixed use, but has some annoying flaws

That is beyond a fair point. I exchanged the LG 3 times and it was super easy with Costco, but they all had several dead pixels. The Alienware was flawless on my first unit. Maybe luck.

I forgot the factor of having a bad unit lottery. My Dell happened to be flawless as far as I can discern, so having a working unit worth its weight in gold.

I am waiting for their OLED monitor to come down to this price!
It's OLED 4K and $4K!

I've had the Dell AW3821DW for a little over a year now and am pretty satisfied thus far.

For the windows issue, supposedly Windows 11 attempts to fix that. On Windows 10 I use PersistentWindows to fix that. Still annoying that LG isn't fixing their firmware issues but at least it's manageable with this app https://github.com/kangyu-califor...entWindows
