These or,... actually Polk Monitor XT15 (2 Pairs w/ Monitor XT30 CC) --- OR --- Emotiva Airmotiv B1+ (2 Pairs w/ Airmotiv C1+ CC).
Things I'm considering ..........
1.) You can stack a 10% Off Coupon at Polk Audio for signing up for their emails. I like how they sound, and I'm all about saving a buck or two. Purchase one of Dayton Audio's subwoofers (SUB-800), or one through Polk Audio (XT12 or PSW 108 or PSW 10)?
2.) Emobucks (20%), which I would apply to the purchase of one of their subwoofers (Airmotiv SE8. I haven't heard the Emotiva speakers. Probably double the money in the end. Would it be worth it? They are regarded very highly in the audiophile community. This will be my first quality listening experience; gaming, home theater, and music / streaming. My room measures 15' (D) x 12' (W) roughly.
Currently considering running a Denon AVR-760SH and Definitive Technology ProCinema 6D, both purchased through Costco on sale. Should I stick with this? May also upgrade to the Onkyo TX-NR6050 when it becomes available again. Or should I even bother? Denon Audyssey or Onkyo GUI?
XT15s are $129 and B1+s are $249 a pair. Double the price!
So, clearly that's not an apple to apple comparison. Polk bookshelfs do not skip on bass like their counterparts. I like bass, so I would stick with the XT series between the two. Their top end spectrum and clarity is great too - the tweeters are awesome on this new series. As good as thier signature line up.
Thanks for the feedback He-Man and dealpapa! Even with Emotiva's Emobucks promo, I couldn't get past not being able to listen to them. I listened to Polk's Monitor XT Series at Best Buy, and truly enjoyed them. The whole series is on sale at Polk. Signed up for their emails and got 10% off. Can confirm that it stacks. Grabbed the XT60 (2 ea.), XT30, XT15 (1 pr.), and XT12 for a 5.1 beginner system. Total came to $715.50 before tax; free expedited shipping. All that paired to a Denon AVR-S760H. Should turn out good! Thanks again!

happ1n3ssis, have you had your speakers setup yet? if yes, how is the sound?
I have Polk monitor 70s, 60s, cs10 setup in our livingroom for the last 10 years from newegg deals. We love their sound.
I'm thinking to buy xt70, xt35, and xt90 to setup our basement movie theater using Denon S760H also.

I'll have to let you know. I finished unboxing them yesterday. I'm waiting on speaker wire. I'll shoot you a message or respond here once I get everything up and running. I'm quite impressed so far though. They are much nicer to look at than the previous series, and a lot of other speakers out there; mainly Klipsch and Sony. That's my opinion of course. To each their own right? Happy New Year by the way! Again, I'll get back to you latech!

Afaik, atmos is just up firing speakers, so you point these upwards and you have atmos speakers or you buy separate atmos speakers and these work with them hence the 'compatible' ?

Happy Sunday,... Happy Funday latech! Finished setting up my 5.1 beginner system yesterday, complete with Monoprice cables / speaker wire. Total disclosure here, I am NOT an audiophile by any means. We are all different. Hearing things differently is no exception either. Polk Audio's new tweeter design is fantastic. Super clear and detailed. Again, at least to my ears. The towers have decent bass. Coupled with the Monitor XT12 Subwoofer, everything truly comes to life in the Home Theater setting. I didn't find these speakers to be muddy at all. As my first ever budget setup, I couldn't be more pleased. Thankfully, I was able to listen to them at my local Best Buy in Summerlin (Las Vegas, Nevada) before purchasing them. I purchased them directly from Polk Audio. Their 10% off coupon stacks. I'd wait for the Monitor XT Series to go on sale before making your purchase. I will purchase another Monitor XT12 Subwoofer, and a pair of Monitor XT90 Height Speakers when they are on sale / back in stock. I don't think you'll be disappointed latech. Happy buying!
I found these to be too bright for my liking ajamils. CheapAudioMan Randy says they are hard to beat for their price point when they're on sale. I also didn't like the way they looked, especially since I wanted to pair them with the matching towers. You can definitely tell Polk Audio made some major improvements over their previous entry level speakers: T Series.
Would I want to upgrade to these over my current 300W model Thonet and Vander Kurbis?
Hey jungleking3! You'll want to listen to them firsthand if you can. As I don't know about the speakers you mentioned, I can't give you an impression either way. Sorry about that.

Hey shar88! As far as I know, the Monitor XT90 Height Speakers are the ones you'll want to look at if you're considering a Dolby Atmos setup. You can place them on top of a tower / mount them to a wall / mount them to the ceiling. Lots of options. And they're fairly inexpensive. I think that was done by Polk Audio intentionally; to get people into enjoying the home theater experience without breaking the bank. I do not work for Polk Audio in any way either. I'm just really impressed with their entry level series. I couldn't be happier.

awesome - thanks for the report, happ1n3ssis.
I got the 760H delivered a few days ago that I will test out with my Polk monitors 2 in the Livingroom. And as you mentioned, I will definitely wait for the next sale to grab some Polk XT series - thinking XT70, XT90, and XT20.
