Be careful on these Amazon and BestBuy because I believe when you activate then they will take over the management of subscription instead of Microsoft.

Correct which is why I am avoiding this for now till there is more clarity on sub.

I ordered this deal November 28th 2021. My current subscription, directly through Microsoft, was set to expire on December 26th 2021. When I entered it in it extended my subscription to December 26th 2022. I turned off auto renewal with amazon and will revisit later next year, but will more than likely just do this deal again as they seem to offer it often.

Hmm... I'm currently on HUP, but this beats that deal by a bit. I wonder what will happen if I try to use one of these on top of my HUP.
I have no idea...basically because I have no idea what "HUP" is...Confused

"Home Use Program." It's a discount on the O365 family plan given to employees of companies that have Software Assurance with Microsoft. They use to give you a perpetual copy of Office for $15, but they changed it to a 30% discounted subscription.

HUP is managed by MS and Amazon will take over the licensing managment. Its ymmv. If you have few months left on HUP maybe you can give it a try? I used this method (there are many more ways stated in that thread), try activating license using step # 4 link? It will be hit or miss, perhaps AMZ will pickup the old license and extend it by a year (as long as product is same). I always had AMZ license (comes out $10 cheaper for me compare to HUP) and has worked for 3 renewal so far but no idea about hup.

Yuck that's horrible. So unless you started your 365 subscription using your amazon account, very likely there's no way to "extend" your existing sub using this. Thank you for the info
I just purchased this from Amazon.com and activated the subscription, the activation did extend my existing subscription for one more year, and yes, Amazon now takes over the management of my previous Microsoft subscription.

I missed the sale in November. I was actually thinking about switching to the HUP to simply have a subscription that auto renews at $69.99 rather than having to pay attention to the sales each year. I read that the HUP rate is valid for auto renewal even if you leave the company which qualified you for HUP. Of course MS could raise the HUP rate in the future. Does anyone have a better auto renewal rate? (I saw a post that someone had a previous deal for $59.99 that still auto renews at that rate via Amazon.)

I will take advantage of this sale today anyway. I believe that 5 years is the maximum you can extend.

Microsoft is trying to sell this office 365 so desperately.
Oh no Microsoft, with a $2.55T market cap and stock gaining 150% over the last 12 months is so desperately trying to sell Office 365.

Just finshed extending the subscription with Amazon order. Had susbsciption renewed till jan 2023 last month with Amazon purchase, Added one more year. Amazon merged the licneses in to one license with new date as Jan 2024.
Did you have auto renewal turned off before apply the new license?

I THINK you can still add Microsoft codes to your subscription to extend but you have to do it at Amazon subscription page. If you try to go to My Subscriptions on Microsoft website it just kicks you over to Amazon or Bestbuy. This is all what I've heard from Slickdeals and also a friend who mistakenly got his pulled over to Bestbuy with a code purchase there one year
No you can't. I've been waiting a full year for my best buy sub to run out before trying to add the codes. Right now while the third party subscription is still listed, Microsoft won't let me add the codes

What statement is this anyway?

Doesn't this apply to every listing on Slickdeals, and every advertisement anyone ever sees? Doesn't every company desperately want to sell something?

Desperately? Sort of like how almost every company that offers a subscription offers great deals every now and then?

I've had M365 for years and to be honest, rarely see anyone say it sucks (except math-challenged people who say subscriptions are a bad deal).
Totally

Every one of these threads ends up with the "bahhhh you are all idiots for paying a SUBSCRIPTION for OFFICE APPS when you can just BUY THE APPS ONCE AND USE THEM A LONG TIME". The main reason I use M365 is for the 1TB cloud storage, where I have all my photos, videos and some other documents backed up in original, uncompressed versions that are easy to access. I hardly use the Word, Excel etc, just here and there

I think most companies are aggressive in offering deals to sell their product, but to say someone is desperate is to say they are in trouble and are trying everything they can think of. MS is hardly in trouble with M365.

Their O365/M365 platform is so much larger than most people here who complain about it know...

While Amazon and BB do it differently, just let your subscription with them expire and you can then start again with MS directly.

May be available for 49.99 for 1 year (YMMV) - I opened an O365 app on my PC (had never registered O365) and it offered me 12 months of O365 Family for 49.99/renew next year for 99.99.

Not sure how to repeat this for others so very YMMV but new accounts may find similar experiences

Note was from fresh install of Windows on an older PC.

Is Microsoft planning to bring back the desktop version of Office for a one-time fee?
