Two questions, does the motherboard support a Ryzen 5XXX drop in? (It looks like it might) Also, what is the PSU wattage output ( think I see 750W) ?

B550 does support 5th gen Ryzen and the Q&A says its "80 Plus Gold Certified 650W Power Supply."

The CPU may be older but still performs well with the 3070. https://pc-builds.com/calculator/...8A/16/100/

Looking around at various reviews - I don't think anyone can answer this question with absolute certainty. It's basically a parts lottery; you may receive a non-LHR/full-wattage card. But if LHR cards are the only ones that Skytech had in stock when they built your particular machine, then that's what you'll get.

Given that LHR cards are more common these days, I'd anticipate receiving one. But...if you don't mind dealing with a return (or if you have use for an LHR version) then maybe it's worth a shot. Are you feeling lucky?

Nowadays, I feel like gaming laptops are better prices than desktops. There's always a laptop with similar graphics for this price. Now that I'm getting into gaming with my Oculus Quest 2 connected, a laptop becomes A LOT more convenient for moving to a place to game with roomscale VR.

Yup and they have their own screen, thats how they got me. Now I'm stuck with a gtx 1080. Can't game at 4k 60fps anymore no hdr, no rtx, no dlss and can't upgrade while waiting for a good desktop. Not to mention that has a battery life of 2 hours and only has a hour of life unplug when gaming.....o did I forget the weight? What if they come out with ground breaking tech in the next 2 years and you can't have it? Well you could always sell the laptop, i wish I did when it was still worth something.

Before I forget, the key buttons on half of the keyboard don't work anymore, that was right after the 3 year warranty was up. Im using a keyboard used for a desktop plugged into a usb now. You think your going to have that problem with a desktop when you can just buy a new keyboard for 20 bucks? Oooo that frame on the laptop screen cracked! So I can't even close the lid on a 3k dollar laptop! Do not buy one.

Disagree. Remember that even disregarding the potential of thermal throttling on a laptop, a desktop rtx 3070 is much more powerful than a laptop GPU with the same name. it's silly that they use the same name when one card can be 30% faster or more than the other, but they do.

I dont know much about graphics cards or computer components for that matter, but isnt there a shortage of graphic cards right now. Wouldn't this computer be a steal for just the graphics card alone? Or are the ones in the pre-built different? Can anyone enlighten me. Thanks.

They're at least close in the chip nowadays. Before the 1000 series, the mobile chips were an entirely different chip that turned in more like 60% less performance. You're pretty close on the money with that 30% estimate (https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mob...44.0.html?). But like you said, it can get worse than that with thermal throttling.

Still, with GPU prices, it's worth considering whether a desktop is what you need. I need a desktop and a laptop.
