I know this deal on the free iPhone SE for new customers has been posted, but I don't think many people know about the free upgrade for existing customers with older 3G incompatible phones.
Cricket/AT&T networks are turning off 3G service in February 2022, making many phones incompatible. If you are receiving texts from Cricket saying your phone is incompatible, you are eligible for a free iPhone SE (or Moto G Stylus 5G) upgrade. This deal will work for all lines on your account that are receiving the Cricket message about incompatible phones.
When you upgrade a line through the website you will see the iPhone price of $249.99. Click to proceed to checkout, and before placing the order you will see "3G $249.99 Targeted Offer-Mfg/Dist Coupon - $249.99", making the phone free.
I was told by the Cricket store owner that this deal should be good until Jan 6th.

I am existing Cricket cust with 3G phone which is getting discontinued by Cricket. So I already placed an order with TMobile to switch to TMobile from Cricket, waiting for IPhone 13 to ship in another 20 days. Can I order and get this phone from Cricket to use in the next 20 days and cancel the cricket service (switching to TMobile)?
Seems like a free $200 (Sell on Ebay) from Cricket if I do this?
Are there any charges from Cricket that I am missing in this?
Thanks for your replies.
I don't see why not. There isn't really anything that I see that said you have to stay on Cricket for x number of days after getting the SE.

Yes, I am inferring the same.
Thanks for your input

I've been on cricket for four years and it has gotten better over time. The only downside is there really isn't much of a subsidy on phones for existing customers. You are really incentivized to change carriers when you need a free new phone.

i know taking the old sim out of the outdated phone and putting it back in will cause that phone to be suspended but im not sure what happens if i never take it out in the scenerio above
I went a step further and used ADB to remove the Mobile Services app (aka DTI) from my phone. After enabling android debugging in developer options and connecting the phone to my desktop, I entered the following into terminal.
adb shell
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.dti.cricket
I then uninstalled all the junk apps again (and used ADB to uninstall the apps that I couldn't uninstall the usual way). I assume Mobile Services may reinstall itself after an update, so be prepared to delete it again.
Besides that, the moto g stylus 5g seems great for an older parent. Huge screen, huge battery. No wireless charging and no google pay (no NFC chip) but an older adult may not really care about those things.
It might have been possible to put the upgrade in shopping cart prior to turning on old phone with SIM or something, but didn't bother keep trying it out. However, with the message showing up in the app, there is a chance that physical store can pull some magic or just honor it, but it's an hour away so didn't want to waste 2 hours on an Sunday for it.
