It will depend on room size, and if you want to use it 24 hours a day or just at night. This one should be more efficient than other portable ax units, and dual hose is better. These can be pretty loud, and they usually have to stick out into the room a bit. I switched to a window unit that I remove in winter, and it just keeps the room so much more comfortable. They're generally more efficient too… especially if you get one with inverter technology.

Anyone have info on the efficiency of these? Will it cost a lot per month to keep a room around 68 Fahrenheit when the rest of the house is around 74? This probably isn't enough info to answer the question but thanks in advance

Good price but I had a similar model and wouldn't recommend using it because it's very loud and you can't use it in the bedroom unless you like loud AC noise.

I have this and it is pretty good. It runs quiet I can sleep with it on in the room.
For most this isn't an issue but they're pushing out the 4 in 1 AC/heater/dehumidifier/fan combo now that's why they're getting rid of these 3 in 1 (no heat). If this isn't an issue for you then it's great. I opted for the 4 in 1 so I can use it during the spring/fall when certain days get colder
Anyone have opinions on if the price will still be the same in a week? I really want it but would want to wait till next payday. Also, what's the deal with dual hose? I would think the best/simplest way to make these is to have one hose as the exhaust and the intake as part of the unit where the cooler air from the air conditioner is so it wouldn't have to work as hard for cooler air.
I had a similar one from Costco. Good for a small room and moderately loud. DO NOT use the adhesive foam included. Worst material ever saw. Buy adhesive seals from hardware store instead.
Have this model, it works on my 10x15 room but nothing efficient about this, i would only use it it the hot nights in San Diego. If u can go for a splitter
2 15000 btu Whynter units. I've had an LG 15000 that was single hose and wasn't all that impressed, but the dual hose Whynter units work far better than the LG.
I might pull the trigger on this just to compare as the price is great.

Since you have this one, hopefully you can answer. Does the whole unit shut off when the AC does or can you leave the fan running non-stop?
