This seems a little silly to me considering how many used guitars there are out there. Does every guitar player own 15 guitars and they are just hoarding guitars? (I own seven at the moment with another one on the way). Thing is nowadays all the quality is incredibly consistent due to all guitars being cnc'd, only difference is really where they're assembled and parts.
I used to work at a guitar luthier and the opinion of the luthiers there was there wasn't much difference between Squier, Mexican Fender and American Fender besides the hardware on the guitars. If you sanded off the logos and "made in" designation on the headstock and changed the hardware out, the luthiers told me they wouldn't be able to tell any difference between Asian, Mexican and American guitars.
MIM used ceramic pickups for the longest time and never had the tone control hooked up to the bridge.
Squier pickups are super generic. All models use the same ones. Plus bodies are thinner.
But 2018 really solved all of the strat mim vs american issues.
Were they new?
*scratch that, I see they even have some new on their website

I've got a player plus tele in the green I've been happy with. Couldn't resist since I've been hemming and hawing over if I should finally get a strat.
Thanks op.
