I took a quick look at eBay and 1080 (non-Ti) cards in working condition are still usually selling for $500. Local sale prices (for cash) would probably be more like $400. So, if you assume the high end value for the 1080, that makes the rest of the PC $350

A 6700K sells for at least $100-150... and that is just the CPU by itself with no cooler or anything. For used RAM and PSU, I'd say $50 each. Used small SSD, only $25 b/c really this is only for Windows OS/boot drive and you'll need to buy another SSD to actually install games. Cooler I consider a freebie on a completed system. Who knows when the AIO may fail. Air tower coolers are more reliable long-term IME (I have one over 10 years old still running with the original fan).

I know a lot of other replies here say that the total value should be $500 but that is too low unless they are all finding used 1080s for cheaper than what I'm seeing. I'd say a 1080 by itself in working condition is worth $400-500.

Personally ... I'd estimate the total value at $750 if you assume the 1080 is worth $500. Or $650 if you assume the 1080 is $400.

BUT - That assumes you are okay with buying an older PC. That RAM is almost 2 generations old at this point and the CPU is pretty long in the tooth. Over time, you'll be spending more money on electricity due to the inefficiency of the CPU not to mention you'll probably peg the CPU easily depending on what you are doing.

If it were me personally... I'd rather buy a used 1080 for a full $500 and buy a brand new CPU and do a fresh build. Or for that matter, just swallow $800 and get a 3060Ti from a scalper if $500 for a 1080 is your reference point. The 3060Ti is noticeably more powerful than a 1080, can do Ray Tracing, and also far more energy efficient as well. With an AMD CPU, you can run a 3060 Ti on a 500W PSU no problem. I'm running dual GPUs on a 600W PSU this very moment and I've never even pulled 500W from the wall even during a stress test.

I'm still waiting on my HP envy desktop that I ordered on Dec 1 and was supposed to ship out Dec 22, now revised to Jan 4 shipping. I am not sure if that's gonna happen.

Do these have motherboard graphics outputs/ports (hdmi and/or Display port) for the 5300G?
Yes, I got two of these delivered a couple of weeks ago (but with 3060 GPU)
These Paviliions have an HDMI port on the back (remove the dust cover plug) and you can use the integrated graphics of the 5300G.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank PowerPC

BIOS is severely limited and you can't disable integrated graphics even when a video card is installed.

$850, it's been the guys main pc since he built it

All insights are much appreciated, haven't bought a pc for about a decade.
You don't want that guy's PC. With several years' wear on those dated components, the only part which would actually have notable value at this point would be his GPU, and even with videocard prices as absurd as they are, he wouldn't pull in more than $400-500 for it. The rest of the rig is of an age where you'll be constantly replacing parts to keep the thing running, first that cooler, then the mobo, then your PSU.

I bought a pair of this exact specced HP on 11/25, delivered 12/23, and while I would upgrade the RAM to 16GB and add a bigger SSD if I were using it as my primary desktop, they're quite a bit nicer (and a lot lighter and more compact) than I had expected, and the geforce 1660S pretty comfortably handles most modern games at 1080p. Since the processor and videocard are both pretty efficient, stock cooling can actually keep temperatures reasonable without getting terribly loud, too, which is usually an issue with prebuilts when they're higher-specced than this.

To recap, definitely do not buy that dude's old used PC for more than $500. It will be a headache. I like this HP chassis if you're looking for an inexpensive 1080p gaming desktop. It's super lightweight and easy to transport if you need (smaller and lighter than my old LAN party companion), and the cooling is sufficient. I would advocate upgrading the memory to 16GB, either through HP or aftermarket, as well as adding a second larger storage drive, but even as-is it can play most every game currently released without much issue.

I should note that this exact HP build was $115 less when I bought mine, but this is still a competitive price relative to what else is available at the moment.

Overall a decent system that's quiet. You can add a 92mm intake fan on the left side panel to improve cooling. Only 2 fan headers on mobo. One 3pin, one 4pin so a splitter is needed. Search YouTube for HP TG01 for reviews and mods

I'd buy one of these, but almost 3 months is a long time to wait before receiving it.

There are two slots, both of which are already occupied.

17-6700K processor, overclockable (stable 4.4ghz)

- 1080 GPU: (STRIX-GTX1080-8G-GAMING),

- MSI Z170A GAMING M5 LGA 1151 Intel Z170

- 16GB, G.SKILL TridentZ Series, overclockable

- NZXT Kraken liquid AIO cooler (CPU) - Seasonic 850w fully modular power supply (80+gold)

- 250GB Solid State Drive: Samsung EVO

All insights are much appreciated, haven't bought a pc for about a decade.
I agree with the other comments. I think $500 max for this used rig. Personally, I would just buy this HP instead of buying used.

Yes, i7-8700/1060 3gb is more than enough. Those multiplayer games are designed to be playable on as many PCs as possible, and as such, their requirements are quite modest.
