I took a quick look at eBay and 1080 (non-Ti) cards in working condition are still usually selling for $500. Local sale prices (for cash) would probably be more like $400. So, if you assume the high end value for the 1080, that makes the rest of the PC $350

A 6700K sells for at least $100-150... and that is just the CPU by itself with no cooler or anything. For used RAM and PSU, I'd say $50 each. Used small SSD, only $25 b/c really this is only for Windows OS/boot drive and you'll need to buy another SSD to actually install games. Cooler I consider a freebie on a completed system. Who knows when the AIO may fail. Air tower coolers are more reliable long-term IME (I have one over 10 years old still running with the original fan).

I know a lot of other replies here say that the total value should be $500 but that is too low unless they are all finding used 1080s for cheaper than what I'm seeing. I'd say a 1080 by itself in working condition is worth $400-500.

Personally ... I'd estimate the total value at $750 if you assume the 1080 is worth $500. Or $650 if you assume the 1080 is $400.

BUT - That assumes you are okay with buying an older PC. That RAM is almost 2 generations old at this point and the CPU is pretty long in the tooth. Over time, you'll be spending more money on electricity due to the inefficiency of the CPU not to mention you'll probably peg the CPU easily depending on what you are doing.

If it were me personally... I'd rather buy a used 1080 for a full $500 and buy a brand new CPU and do a fresh build. Or for that matter, just swallow $800 and get a 3060Ti from a scalper if $500 for a 1080 is your reference point. The 3060Ti is noticeably more powerful than a 1080, can do Ray Tracing, and also far more energy efficient as well. With an AMD CPU, you can run a 3060 Ti on a 500W PSU no problem. I'm running dual GPUs on a 600W PSU this very moment and I've never even pulled 500W from the wall even during a stress test.

I'm still waiting on my HP envy desktop that I ordered on Dec 1 and was supposed to ship out Dec 22, now revised to Jan 4 shipping. I am not sure if that's gonna happen.

Any good deals on PC's with RTX 2000 or 3000 series GPU's?

How's the 5300G compared to an old i7-7700 (non-K) for everyday office and browsing use? Picked up a like new thinkcentre with a 7700 and 8 gigs of ram, 256 gig Samsung 840 SSD with minimal to no wear for $100 even. Worth flipping it to buy this and gut and ebay flip the GPU just to keep a marginally better office machine?

Otherwise known as the standard HP shipping time. I don't think I've ever seen a shipping date under two months, for HP.

Biggest problem with i7-7700: no support for Windows 11.

Ordered one around mid November, arrived after Christmas. Would expect a couple days after estimated ship date. The systems are nice an peppy. When you pull the 1660 Super for mining, the onboard video works without any bios changes. Only additional effort was removing the VGA / HDMI covers for the onboard card.

I want this but it's such a hassle to add new larger drive, clone, partition, etc.
There is a bay for another drive with sata connection and power available. Default drive is M2.

I assume this only has hdmi 1.4 with the onboard video? So it won't do 4k@60hz with onboard video correct?

Correct. However, I took out the 5300G and dropped it into a B550 motherboard, and got 4K60. So it's definitely a limitation of the HP/HDMI 1.4.

If you need a pc with a dedicated GPU, this is likely a good deal based on part availability, price, form factor, etc.

But if you're even almost an 'enthusiast' as they say, check out Gamers Nexus about pre built PC's.

Dell has had lots of proprietary parts that limit any ability to upgrade later, but not sure about HP. have a look here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c...amersNexus to at least get some info to arm yourself about what to look for inside a prebuilt.

Again, if you're needing a pc with a GPU - this is a great price.

$500 would be fair. Otherwise, get this desktop deal from Dell. At least the Dell can upgrade to Windows 11 (that 6700K can't, officially), and it will use significantly less power and be MUCH cooler to run.
What's the Dell deal? I'm in the market for a new desktop and have the AMEX 200 off 800 Dell offer that expires in a few days. I'm not a gamer or miner.

Nice find. The 5300G gives the i5-11400 a run for it's money in productivity apps. It's quite quick and an upgrade from the i7-7700 plus it has about the best intergrated graphics around.

Nobody's running to move to Window 11.

Is it worth flipping the old one? Just for web browsing, naw. We aren't talking huge differences here. You are better off upgrading the ram and disk space in the system you have for general usability.

Thanks. Yeah in all likelihood gonna keep the thinkcentre SFF tower. It has dual DP outs I could run two 4k screens at 60 hz, something I doubt the newer HP proprietary Ryzen board has on the mobo out side. HP is known to cheapen out and still use HDMI 1.4. Flip the 1660S and lose 4K/60 display capability, no thanks.

HP shipping times are hard to figure out. I see all the remarks on here from people who ordered in Nov/early Dec who have still got shipping notifications.
Maybe I was lucky. I ordered basically this same PC but with Ryzen 5 cpu and 1 Tb SSD in early Dec and it was built, shipped, and received in a couple weeks.
Maybe I just got very lucky.
Seems to be a nice PC btw.
