This set is forged using German Steel from a Chinese brand. The review from the brand seem to be quite positive. Being from Costco, this seems like this is a low risk opportunity for a good set of knives.

This looks good. I really don't need so many steak knifes though wish there were more other knifes.

Recently got the cangshan s series block from Costco. The knives are highly impressive. The blade has held an incredibly sharp edge and the weight is very nice and balanced imo.

Bought these for my son as a gift for Christmas and was impressed with them. Very solid knives and super sharp.

Steel: "High Alloy" Humorous. Best use: staging a condo for sale. Two high carbon stainless for about $150 serve me far better and will last for decades instead of months.

Says in the listing and they are stamped x50CrMoV15 which is high quality German steel

This guy doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. These are high quality German steel- they provide extensive details on each set. I own and use multiple sets of these (S1 series, S series, L1 series, the the BBQ set) and they are all amazing. I have a number of Shun knives, but I still find myself gravitating to these because they are (and stay) ridiculously sharp, well balanced, and easy to use.
