Using GameStop PUR $5 certificates on digital currency was a popular slick deal, turning a $15 membership into a $45 profit.
Effective immediately, $5 monthly reward certificates are no longer applicable to digital currency. I just tried to use it in store and was told it no longer works and I have linked a post from someone posting the internal memo.
Hopefully this PSA can save people some gas or rile up some protests from customers to change their policy.

Thanks, it's a shame GameStop corporate decided to pull this under their employees. Most of the employees are going to deal with the backlash while corporate gets to sit behind their desks. Hopefully something reaches them.
The problem is GameStop was purposely upselling this membership to use it on digital currency at many gamestops I went to. There were flyers posted on desks and walls showing the "great value" and way to "profit" off the membership. It's a bait and switch essentially.
It was one of the only reasons I honestly went into physical GameStop stores. Sometimes I'd buy things I wouldn't have as a result. Now I have no reason to step inside.

I would visit the store monthly to redeem my coupon and would occasionally pick up some other items. I'll probably only go a couple times of year now if that and it won't be dedicated trips like before. Going to seriously reduce foot traffic and extra sales but I also understand they were probably bleeding money because digital currency is a low/zero margin item.
