Using GameStop PUR $5 certificates on digital currency was a popular slick deal, turning a $15 membership into a $45 profit.

Effective immediately, $5 monthly reward certificates are no longer applicable to digital currency. I just tried to use it in store and was told it no longer works and I have linked a post from someone posting the internal memo.

Hopefully this PSA can save people some gas or rile up some protests from customers to change their policy.

You are wrong. During Black Friday I went in to get FIFA 22 and mentioned it was cheaper next door (at Target). He looked it up on his phone and price matched it for me. I belive this is YMMV per store.

If you signed up around October 2021 and later, you might have auto-renewal for Pro membership automatically enabled. You can turn that off by logging into the GameStop website. It's under Account Overview > Powerup Rewards > Manage Pro Membership

I signed up in October and turned it off right when I got home.

Sounds like whoever you talked too didn't know what they're doing or are just being a dick. I've been to multiple locations over the year and they've all priced matched for me. Said they don't advertise it but they will do it upon request.
