Using GameStop PUR $5 certificates on digital currency was a popular slick deal, turning a $15 membership into a $45 profit.
Effective immediately, $5 monthly reward certificates are no longer applicable to digital currency. I just tried to use it in store and was told it no longer works and I have linked a post from someone posting the internal memo.
Hopefully this PSA can save people some gas or rile up some protests from customers to change their policy.

How long will this $7.00 item be around for sale? Eventually it will go away as this particular game becomes older/obsolete, right?
Bad because I like getting my $5 of Nintendo Eshop credit each month (with the occasional purchase of something else)
Good because I kind of hate having to drive and go out of my way each month just to physically go into a GameStop store to get my $5 credit.
I was on the verge of not renewing already so this just made my mind up for me. I guess I'll just grab a pack of Pokémon cards each month and then cash out all of my points and never look back.
Also, they really screwed up my physical magazine as well. I got it for years just fine and then when I resubscribed in September they stopped sending it to me. Since September I've only received one copy so far. They ended up giving me like 15 or 20k points to make up for it. This company sucks.
Oh and it also sucks the couple of times I wanted to actually use my coupon online when purchasing physical games and merchandise because they do NOT let you use this along with any other promotions. They treat this like a discount or coupon code so it won't work with any B1G1 or some % off of a new game when you get a used game or anything.

I don't play roblox so not sure on this but this may work. If you have an xbox, you may be able to buy stuff on the xbox roblox game using the MS credit.
I would visit the store monthly to redeem my coupon and would occasionally pick up some other items. I'll probably only go a couple times of year now if that and it won't be dedicated trips like before. Going to seriously reduce foot traffic and extra sales but I also understand they were probably bleeding money because digital currency is a low/zero margin item.

They didn't market it in such a way. Maybe a few rogue stores did, and yes that still falls on corporate, but I've never ever seen them market out in such a way. In fact, it'd be counterintuitive for them to market it in such a way. Why in the world would they want to encourage people to buy something they make relatively nothing on?
