Using GameStop PUR $5 certificates on digital currency was a popular slick deal, turning a $15 membership into a $45 profit.

Effective immediately, $5 monthly reward certificates are no longer applicable to digital currency. I just tried to use it in store and was told it no longer works and I have linked a post from someone posting the internal memo.

Hopefully this PSA can save people some gas or rile up some protests from customers to change their policy.

At end of 7 days, they cancelled my pickup for $1 pre-owned game and refunded the $1+ taxes for it. I didn't have to go to store or call them or anything.

So what kind of things will the reward work on going forward? Pokemon cards, amiibo, t-shirts, video games (probably)? No digital currency obviously

For those doing the $7 Microsoft credit, can you use that credit for PC game pass sub, merchandise on the Microsoft store, etc.? I don't have an XBox.

Edit: So I bought it and it gave me $7 credit in my Microsoft account attached to my PC game pass app.

I wont be renewing my gamestop pro membership they wont let you roll over your $5 perk & now wont let you purchase digital with it so no i wont be renewing my membership

Also, anyone notice the reps more strict with these $5 monthly discounts? I had my brothers screenshot for the code since he was working during the hours gs was opened and he couldn't make it. The rep said he could not scan it, he needed the actual phone number.
