FYI You can get this for about $100 less if you can verify with Id.me directly from GE. I paid around $450

Seems to be only an added military discount that brings it down that much

Reviews are mixed about this one. Was recently on sale on Amazon and people complained about several broken ones that just made loud whirling sounds and stuff without actually making ice. Hit or miss. If you get one that works, expect good ice for a year before it needs replaced.

I was researching this yesterday. I don't believe Costco Concierge covers it. The fine print lists what is considered a major appliance and ice markers are not listed. Also, the Allstate warranty is unclear if they will cover it either too. But the Citibank visa will probably cover it, though.

Also, I couldn't find the 2.0 on Amazon, only the 1.0. The reviews for the 1.0 are mixed. Supposedly they fixed the issues in the 2.0.

All that to say, it is a really good price since it includes the water tank.

We've had this for 8 months and we love it. It it louder than it needs to be in my opinion, but oddly you get used to it. That's my only complaint; it's worth it to have the GOOD ICE in every drink all day every day!!

Yes yes it's expensive but I bit the bullet and got one a few months ago. We use it pretty much all day long and take it in the RV for camping trips. For my family it's worth every cent. Makes my mixed drinks that much better. Heck my kids want ice for a snack

Do you know what the issues were in the 1.0? We have had a gen 1 for several years (got in on their kickstart type campaign) and it has been holding strong. It has started to make a little more noise than it did when we got it but it still makes the ice like it should.

Amazon carries the 1.0 and you are absolutely correct that the 1.0 was hit or miss. We bought the 2.0 about 9 months ago and it has been a workhorse. It has not had any problems making ice or having loud noises. In addition, you should maintain it. For example, hard water can be a problem. My experience is that most people won't follow maintenance schedules, so that could also be contributing to people's experience.

Have one of these 2.0 machines and it can be a little noisy when running. Price wise I think this is the same as what I paid last year but if it qualifies for Costco lifetime return then is better to purchase from here.

We always use filtered water and clean with a little bleach each month. No issues to date.

I struggle to understand the price on this. Yes we all like this type of ice, but is there any other reason these are $400 more than a avg counter top ice machine?

They have the market cornered on this ice style. So I agree they have been taking advantage of the supply/demand for it.
No real competition to drive prices down.

The reviews for the 1.0 worried me out of trying that one. It could be an expensive boat anchor once warranty ends.

If I want to try this 2.0, there is no better opportunity than through Coscto w/their Citicard. I believe that factor alone makes up for the ID me savings mentioned before, through GE directly. Too many things can go wrong.

Scored the 1.0 version on Facebook Marketplace for $30 a few years ago and it's still going strong. I have used it just about every day. The person selling it said it was very slow, but it worked just fine for me. I'm not sure how fast they were expecting it to make ice! It definitely makes the best ice.

How long does the ice last in these on the counter top? Does it just melt and go back in the reservoir to be made into ice again?
