I will say kudos to both for making a pretty boring looking laptop - Dell especially, that just blends in. I like that aspect as a non-gamer, "gamers" might want more bling.
If I bought for a desktop replacement general work computer, using VideoEnhance AI as my only non-light task, it'd be HP. Bigger screen, cooler running. I don't need or want a numpad. The heatsinks are not inverted in case I ever need or want to repaste. HP gives you two copper heat spreaders for the NVMe slots.
edit: I choose those reviews because it's pretty much all I care about, Temp and CPU performance. Does the laptop let the CPU stretch its legs and how hot do things get. The gaming stuff doesn't really concern me. There are much more in-depth gaming reviews etc.
