This comment made me chuckle. If this system is only $150 more than something you paid 3 years ago then given the times it is a HECKUVA DEAL. This GPU and CPU are a combined 530 and that is IF you can actually find the 1660 super in stock and not pay scalper prices. The hard drive and ram are another $100, a motherboard is at least another $100 and the PSU is probably only $40-50. Cheap ram is $50.

In the end if you were to build this you'd be looking at almost the exact same price, not including the Windows license and keyboard/mouse.

Seems like a deal in 2022 to me.
Considering the CPU and GPU is worth it alone, I'd say it's a pretty solid deal.

Since the January 2021, we've had a semiconductor shortage, a crypto boom, and not the mention this CPU didn't come out until March 2021 but eh....

i bought 2 of these last time they were in stock. solid machines for the price imo. i don't do much gaming on them (my son does tho) but for runs well enough for photo and video editing after i doubled the ram.

Any clue how this would stack against an older i5-1135G7 and GTX 1060 3gb? (everything else pretty much the same) I know the processor and GPU are newer and performance charts show a decent increase but that does not always show itself in the real world. Thoughts?

Depends on your use case / what games you play. I had a 3 gb 1060 in the past and eventually ran into memory issues holding me back for newer games. I'd consider that plus what resolution /refresh rate you want to run your games at.

That is my main issue deciding if I need to upgrade or not; I do not typically play the newest games but wait a year or two for them to come down in price as I have such a backlog of games I can play in the interim. I honestly do not need more machine but bigger is always better Wink

Also, I find if you wait a while to play a game the system requirements seem to go down / performance goes up (dramatically) as the game and the GPU gets patched several times, improving performance on mid to lower tiered hardware. I could be crazy.

With the budget, I would rather go with a 3050 laptop for dlss support. I could even get a 3060 laptop if willing to spend a pinch more

They definitely do get more optimized over time. If I were in your shoes (I was in your shoes early last year. Wanted but didn't need a new comp) I'd just wait for a better deal on a better card. I ended up getting a prebuilt with a 3060ti for around 1k last year and it blew my mind vs the 3gb 1060. If you're not having issues with your current machine i'd wait and make a bigger jump down the line.

It's definitely dependent on the software you use.

In the games I play, I'm able to run some at 4K with High presets on a 1660Ti, whereas the 1060 could barely do 1080 at Medium.

But also note that a lot of games getting ported and cross releases are starting to show some bottlenecking with a mediocre CPU. Since you can actually get a CPU at a reasonable price these days, I'd focus on that and wait for the GPU market to catch up if you're not ready for an entirely new system.

And to be fair, this isn't that great of a deal, considering I paid $700 for a similar setup with a 1660Ti three years ago.

Can't comment on the CPU, but GTX 1660 Super is a great card, I haven't had any hiccups with mine. It has ran every game I've thrown at it without issue.

Considering the ability to customize, is this a better deal?

https://slickdeals.net/f/15545230-hp-pavilion-gaming-desktop-ryzen-3-5300g-gtx-1660-super-8gb-ddr4-2...
Depends. To customize that HP with similar performance options then the Lenovo will be cheaper. (1tb HDD, 512 ssd, 16gb ram, same GPU, upgrade processor to 5600). If you don't need some of those upgrades then it could be a better deal.

Going with the HP and just doing a 256 SSD, 16gb ram, the 5300 CPU and the 1660 Super 6GB would get you to $740. I could easily see that being the better option for some people.

What is the 1660 graphics card roughly going for resell pulled from chassis? I don't need the graphics card and just looking for a solid desktop to replace my aging Dell XPS.

Also Specs link posted list
Up to five drives, 2x 3.5" HDD + 2x M.2 SSD + 1x open 2.5 HDD Bay
• 3.5" HDD up to 2TB each
• M.2 SSD up to 1TB each

Watched a youtube video can't see the bays for the 2 3.5 and the extra m.2 slot. Wonder if the M.2 are taken up by OS SSD and Wifi card.
